I started this fantasy portfolio in 2016 to challenge various posters perception that Lloy is 'the worst share ever' or a 'dire share', on the 8th Oct 2016 I invited WL/Newchurch to choose an alternative ftse 100 company so I could run a comparison
On 8th Oct 2016 - 1000 quid bought 206 BP. shares & 1905 Lloy shares
Today's value
BP. 206 @ 556 = 1145
Lloy 1905 @ 60.3 = 1149
In April 2017 Invest4life suggested I add Glencore -
On 22-4-17 - 1000 quid bought 335 Glen shares & 1553 Lloy shares
Today's value
Glen 335 @ 277 = 928
Lloy 1553 @ 60.3 = 936
In July 2017 Nucky suggested I add RBS -
On 12-7-17 1000 quid bought 384 RBS & 1512 Lloy
Today's value
RBS 384 @ 228 = 876
Lloy 1512 @ 60.3 = 912
In July 2017 Utrickytrees asked that I add BARC -
On 30-7-17 1000 quid bought 479 Barc & 1504 Lloy
Today's value
Barc 479 @ 158 = 757
Lloy 1504 @ 60.3 = 907
In Sept 2018 Motley Fool recommended Diageo over Lloyds
On 9-9-18 1000 quid bought 37.3 DGE & 1704 Lloy
DGE 37.3 @ 3348 = £1249
Lloy 1704 @ 60.3 = £1028
This weeks observation - on going Brexit uncertainty and 'sell in May' weigh on banks and the market as a whole, DGE continues to rise
Overall conclusion -
A very basic comparison that does no include divi yield, IMO those still suggesting Lloy is 'the worst share ever' or a 'dire share' seriously need to examine their concept of investing.

Lloyd's down 10% in May compared to the FT100 3%.
Dow, SP, Russell 2000 around 4 to 6%.
When Brexit is sorted and Oct comes, the real reasons this is going nowhere will remain. The sellers need the greater fool.

Thanks A1, interesting stuff! Now does seem a good time to build a holding, especially with ppi coming to an end and quarterly dividends from next year.

First time in June 2018, that I decided to put money aside for a trading pot of £20,000
In just over 12 months I down to under £4000 now
I kid you not ...
3 good calls but I've had 2 bad calls that's wipping me out and really need a miracle to see my money back
There is a Moral to this story, and it is Stick to the stocks that you know best
Light of the day I'd rather be in a boring stock like lloyds with my savings picking up Dividends and not losing or my savings trying to trade like the so called expert's
"Fantasy gains" more like.
Just look at the share graph for last week.
Anyone here for the long term with this BoD must be ***.
This share will turn positive due to the closure of PPI and other factors often stated but not because of any business acumen at the top but rather in spite of them.
I repeat DYOR, MCAP before buybacks vs MCAP now.Billions lost on this alone, and they are the shareholders billions, ours.
Monkeys and typewriters come to mind.
Always happy to highlight the truth, like Tories squabbling while Iranian Corsairs swipe our ships.
Thankfully a much awaited wedding to attend today when nonsense will be laced with fine wines and liqueurs.
Have a good weekend all.
Lloyds,Boring ,safe ,dividends all exciting words for me
Cuckoo, you really like to repeat yourself over and over again and yet fail to answer the questions asked of you.
Let me ask you one again. Why have you not been decrying buybacks on the XLM BB ? Do you not think you’re being hypocritical ?
Maybe it explains why you’re incapable of understanding that share prices move for a multitude of reasons.
The average daily buyback moves Lloyd’s upwards by approximately 0.01p per day Cuckoo. Are you able to explain the rest of the daily movement ? I doubt it somehow and you’ll trot the same old nonsense out again next week. Boring zzzzzzzzzzzzz

This weeks observation - Banks take a hammering on Brexit concerns
Overall conclusion -
A very basic comparison that does no include divi yield, IMO those still suggesting Lloy is 'the worst share ever' or a 'dire share' seriously need to examine their concept of investing.

''Next yourll be saying with GDP falling for the first time in 6 years that brexit is not a factor ''
The drop in the last 3 months, was due to the large stockpiling in the previous
3 months in anticipation of leaving the EU in March.
Future recessions will happen no matter what club memberships may or may not be held.

It's no fantasy lloyds has paid back 20billion...coming to an end...done a buyback and pay a fantastic divi....wow...and achieved this when the economy has been difficult.
Was the 20 billlion repaid for PPI claims justified?
Were claims properly examined?
This matters or was it open to abuse and were proper safeguards put in place?
I would not like to think that as AHO was not at helm when the debacle occured he was happy to sate those that chanced their arm,and I mean claimants and those they employed.
Ever increasing provisions that were made has always concerned many and demand answers.
Afternoon all.
