MB : Slow down in this sector is picking up the pace. Tops tiles results yesterday also highlight this. Just drop into Tools station, Wickes, Screwfix or Selco, Travis and see for your self. I was in Wickes yesterday and staff confirmed this.
KGF is 2nd highest shorted stock at present and rising. Shorter increasing their stake last week after result. I guess dividend is one of the reason this is till up. Mr Garnier is trying all the tricks in the book to hold/slowdown the decline of SP. At the end of the day gravity will win. As for Home Depot comparison, two very different markets.......imho...dyor.
At some point, yes. GL tomorrow. Happy to hold and add on weakness.
Surely this one has to be a takeover target. It has around half the P/E ratio and over double the dividend yield of Home Depot. Looks cheap to me.

Citigroup raises Kingfisher to 'buy' (neutral) - price target 258 (210) pence

I too lost tens of thousands by going by barclays recommendations. Very poor forecast.
Dare2tri
I followed barclays recommendations and lost tens of thousands. Very poor forecast. Look at their research centre, a lot of miscalculations.
Broker ratings are poor at best. Barclays say 325?
Common sense here the share price should be 235 for now.
Fill yer boots with these at 2 quid a share. Divi is 6%.
Last post: dare2tri, 21 Sep 2023 12:25
Exactly broker ratings are poor.
Excellent volume again today :). Looks like heading over 220+...
Last post: Siddeek, 20 Sep 2023 19:27
SocGen had a sell rating with 192 target price. Pl see kgf share news above today
I would expect a move back to around 235.00 pretty soon.
Surely this is over sold and ex dividend 5th oct plus a share buy back?!?!

Been a nice trader over the years (and income provider).
Second most shorted share does make you wonder who knows best.
The Screwfix story plays well for future low outlay growth without the cannibalising the B&Q stores. Seems a great entry point around £2 / £2.10.
Yes - if it didn't have so much debt.
£40m less profits and company is down 10% ,this has to be a bargain

That's it folks, I'm out! I've taken my dividend and my profit. GLA

I think the last 27 days has answered your question in part, Uncle Doug. It would seem that everyone on this post is either holding their breath or has sold up and gone away.

Very low now. How much lower can it go ?
Yep SP slipping as expected. Shame they've wasted all that spare cash on buying their own shares at inflated values too. Might have a punt myself soon.
Down 2% on a good day for markets. No divvi rise. Profits dn 39% Sales dn 1%.
Can see SP slipping even more this year.

Up to 5.7% today
5.1% now
Has that reduced in past few weeks anyone? I think it has.
Management keep buying as well so if shorts are also closing then this could be great for the shares

Bet even more miffed, dividends paid in acc , Sp popping today probably be dividends reinvested the cause , even the so called experts call it wrong but probably right next year will be very tough ...atb
Ian Cowie's buy (@234p) was clearly mis-timed. The mini budget and Tory party wrangling has done nothing to ease concerns - in fact things look worse with a recession a near certainty. The recent results (30% fall in profits), interest rate rises and director selling 20K @235p has not helped. I'm holding off investing here as I feel there might be further falls as winter comes and consumers have less to spend. The SP has been in constant decline since the start of the year - at 190p KGF will be back on my radar.
In Sunday’s Times Cowie admitted to taking a 10% loss on the shares he recently bought, citing fears around housing market. Today the markets are ripping upwards. Perhaps he was a tad premature. Time to drown his sorrows with a G&T.

This looks a really good buy. Can't understand why there isn't more interest in this - either in buying or in chat on here. It is after all a well known company.
Fortunately I held off buying as the price went down again today, although it was hardly a bad half-yearly report.
International doing very well. Growth.

This is the article by Ian Cowie, but you need to have a log-in.

He quoted 5.3% Dividend which is what caught my attention. I have since read up on it, and the profit looks good.
Do you know what was written in the article pls, would you mind pasting it here.
Yes, there was a good write-up in the Sunday Times which brought this to my attention. Think I will be investing in my income portfolio, with a decent chance of price recovery.
Apparently it was tipped by Sunday times Tipster.
Brokers cutting SP targets lower lately and this one is going up today. Especially when July GDP numbers were soft. I have noticed Shorts have bought back few, now shorts 7%, down by 2%. Also Q2 figures are out soon. perhaps someone knows something???

Yes.... but retail is now well out of favour... with other sectors following... energy crisis.. Inflation... Unfortunately this sp will suffer imo... gla...
Just look at the short positions can anyone please explain how to read them and what it means. Thanks
Short now make that 9.18%....and climbing.
Make that 8.9% and climbing.
With Wickes missing year 2022 target looks like house of cards ready to tumble.
£2 here we come.
8%! Second from top shorted.

Asto, i usually find most merchant are pretty much the same with prices, Screwfix is very handy for me, powertools excellant range, not used Toolstation yet....Gla
Roofer : Been to few different branches in last 4 weeks during the day and been dead. I find Material is so expensive at Screwfix, most of the time i can find things cheaper else where. Use to be my go to place but no more. only go there if I cant find something else where.
With the labour cost of tradesmen ever increasing , more DIY's having a go ,Srcewfix always busy , dividends paid today , market condition outlook still pervasive , mothballs for these shares
I bought in after reading today's RNS and weekend news on record house prices. Should keep trade and DIY shops busy!!
New £300m buyback plan and reiterating £770m of profit for the year. 300p here we come

Strong Sell
Still made a profit but only just. Their prices are too high, I’ve stopped using B&Q and screwfix. If I find the expensive, so will most others. Now the most shorted stock so time to bale out.
