In fact the Director General of NATO suggested a few years ago that Russia has had a hand in financing anti-fracking propaganda and Russia Today, the now banned TV channel, which was Putin’s mouthpiece, was strongly anti-fracking. I can’t see Labour actually taking dirty money but they fit into the category of “useful idiots” who can’t see that we can’t rely on renewables without a reliable, dispatchable back-up supply.
F me, are Labour MPs really that thick? Yes, actually they are. The markets haven't taken fright over Truss' plan, they've taken fright over the fact rhe UK is going down a path of socialism and think there could be the slimmest of chances the nutters (Labour) get into power because they know how many voters walk around with a huge chip of envy on their malnourished shoulders. The pound is collapsing because of multiple factors including, brexit, higher interest rates by the Fed, lack of growth strategy for the past 20+ years, commies (aka FOE n co.) slowing progress via JRs. I could go on and on but you get the gist. The Russians must literally be laughing over their vodka today when Starmer started banging on about 'green energy', what an absolute melt of a guy.
The gas pipelines from Russia to Europe have suffered unprecedented damage. Russia denies involvement but IMHO it’s probably a barely veiled warning to the U.K. that if we can do this to Nordstream we can do it to the vital Norway to U.K. gas pipeline or any undersea gas pipeline or cable between the U.K. and mainland Europe. If you remember what Putin sanctioned in Salisbury then anything is possible. U.K. energy security has never been so important.
Its interesting just how much things can change in 24 hours. The Labour party may have wanted to ban Fracking, but we now have 3 holes in the Nordstream pipelines. What if next month we have a sinking of a LNG tanker, then perhaps an 'explosion' on a NS rig. Really Fracking and on land gas is the very definition of energy security IMO. This should be top priority for the Government and opposition. We are not living in normal times.
We now have the Labour party talking about providing a national energy company. This would be the ideal solution to Fracking IMO. Purchase the licenses back and nationalise them, thus allowing guaranteed risk free development to proceed.
Ridiculous sell of today, no doubt market makers and traders doing it out of necessity. I am not interested in selling for a 10% rise, this could seriously take off at some point.
See the Labour plan is to be 100% green by 2030, good luck with that one ! They are supposed to be a credible opposition to the Tories?
Mirasol are you an expert on rig availability?,there is plenty of expertise around the world.Go back to tree hugging.
?????
I might get a second 20% in two weeks at this rate!
I'm his greatest fan!
"Fracking is a near term (cica. 6 months) energy supply solution"
There aren't enough drilling rigs, kit or people - never mind the lack of expertise
Methinks you are acquainted with Mark Steyn on GBnews * 8pm mon to Thursday.
The luddites who prefer nuclear fission ,with all it's incumbent baggage ie time to build ,commission ,safety, radioactive waste, security and decommissioning costs. Green energy from wind and tide are all initially dependent on fosil fuel energy to produce all the kit . Fracking is a near term (cica. 6 months) energy supply solution that will produce wealth and energy stability for the country. Personally i think these paid antifrackers should be first in line to experience power cuts (if any) this winter.
Labour making headlines that they would ban Fracking. Lets see what the landscape is like in 6 months time, let alone 2 years. Easy to say from the opposition, by shadow minister. Also easy to U turn on as reality sets in. That's assuming they even win an election. They are just posturing for headlines.
The shadow energy and climate secretary, Barry Gardiner MP, told the party conference yesterday..
...
The move has been criticised as “madness” by GMB, the union for energy workers, report The Independent, The Financial Times and The Guardian. The group says a ban would leave the UK reliant on ‘henchmen, hangmen and headchoppers’ for gas.
...
with General election in 2 yrs, i doubt any company will take seriously regarding lifting of fracking. imagine if EDR/IGAS doing fracking next year, only to be told the year after to stop all activites (if Labour win).
hence, will need to wait for next general election for any activities.
thats why sp in weakness imho.
now have to focus on Wressle production, EOG, UJO EDR will do well
She thought Boris couldn't resist her legs! LOL the neck on the girl
I prefer the description"ginger growler"
UK Govt are already making plans for the fracking fortunes.
I wonder how many pennies dropped at the weekend for private investors?
Heat Pumps…Meanwhile China doubles it’s coal fired power station output, ‘leading by example’ is going to finish what’s left of the UK and the citizens who are going to have to pay for this…
The Telegraph report this morning that the government is considering putting the proceeds of fracking into a Norway style Sovereign Wealth Fund that will be used to invest in other U.K. projects. Not sure how this effects the SP but it at least shows the government is still very much on the case when it comes to shale development.
I also see that big banks are preparing for rolling blackouts this winter. If there are blackouts then Moggy will be able to point to fracking as a positive development in contrast to the ridiculous Luddite policies of the greens and sadly most of the Labour Party. When it’s minus 2 degrees in February with no sunshine and no wind I can see the Greens calling for more renewables. Even King Canute would have thought it was mental.
On the negative side watch out for Kwasi Kwarteng to be linked to the profits made by the Odey hedge fund. Kwarteng was a past Oder employee. Odey have invested quite heavily in Igas, I hope there’s no negative insinuations about the support for fracking.
That HAG labour have as second in command.... it this the best opposition they can muster? my god.
Starmer will be saying he will ban petrol and diesel cars by 2025 next , a total dreamer
Oh great…the Labour Party Conference kicks off this evening, listen to the relentless anti-fracking rhetoric, they’re saying voting red=green, total renewables all the way if this lot get into power in 2 years, clueless and naïve…
Positive news on fracking should have helped companies in the space, although for the likes of Egdon (EDR), the old stock market adage of it being better to travel than arrive seemed to rule the day. https://www.share-talk.com/traders-cafe-with-zak-mir-a-week-in-small-caps-saturday-24th-september-2022/
