oh look...its back in the 500p zone - or did it ever leave it??
effix - a clock reads the right time twice a day and you are a tiresome young troll that has nothing of value to contribute to this board so please take your own advice, sell whatever holding you have (nil) and slink back under another bridge where you might find others of a similar disposition.
airffi03 - "as predicted" hahahah that must be thre funiest things you said in a few days, non of your predicts come to fruition. I think you need to open your eyes and look at the wider market today. You never did explain what the "500p zone" is...can you now explain?
Just exactly as I said. This dud cannot clear 500p zone. It's been trying for a few weeks now and every time gets mercilessly rejected. Tons of sellers there. Sell and forget!!!
Welcome Monty Dog, the key is to always listen to effix03 and do the complete opposite you will make a fortune.
Morning all, I'm fairly newly invested here and am hoping for good things..... the fire that has reduced the capacity to import electricity from France and the lack of exposure to soaring gas prices which is causing electricity prices to rise have all got to be good things for DRX (I hope)
I am invested in Drax for a long time and have studied the company to some extent in my own way. I just came across an article regarding MGT Teesside Biomass power plant. It is 300MW plant that I understand operates under CfD and it cost £650m to build. I am not sure how efficient Drax plants are to this one however, taking into account - Drax has a production capacity of c.2.6GW i.e. almost 9 times - Drax biomass plants should be worth around £5.8bn. This does not include any other part of the business. Drax EV is currently c. £3bn. On this basis - it seems overly undervalued to me. Am I being too simplistic here or missing something? Any views will be appreciated.
EFFIX - you never mentioned the word "zone" in your post.
I must admit I don't know what you mean by it, you are the only one I have come across that ever uses it.
According to you, it hasn't even passed the 400p zone yet, how big is this zone of yours?
Perhaps you confuse it with your playzone?
„In the UK, the day-ahead price jumped more than 25 per cent to an all-time high of £2.30 per therm. It had traded near 40p a therm in February.” - FT Friday 1st Oct . And yet Drax is heading down - hahaha. Any bulls? -)
correction around 4 days* extra 1 popped in some house :-)
Airffix03, perhaps when you go back to school tomorrow you can ask your teacher to show you the correct way to read your graphs as it appears you have yours up side down!! Perhaps thats why are are seeing a positive picture for your shorts? Also maybe they can explain to you that 5 is greater than 3 and if you check the share price it actually spent nearly 14 days over 500p, therefore again you are incorrect as it has cleared the 500p zone, unless you want to explain to everyone on this board what you believe is the "500p zone" as clearly we dont understand...thanks in advance.
@OWLS - I'll hold your coat.......
@owls - I hope you understand what a 'zone' means? Yes, it won't clear 500p zone in my view. Half a pence at opening doesn't really count - are you 12 or what?
This news from April 13 this year is gaining significance as the price of energy is rocketing!
"Drax has completed the acquisition of Canadian wood pellet manufacturer Pinnacle Renewable Energy, tripling the UK company's annual capacity from 2022, Drax said April 13."
This transformed the company into an international business trading bioenergy from the North America continent to Europe and Asia, "with the market for biomass pellets for renewable generation in Europe and Asia expected to grow significantly," Drax said.

@effix - might I recommend you take some instruction from the sage advice contained within this time honoured fable?
https://youtu.be/ntswPN4Ed4A
I'd suggest that the villagers in the story represent the grown-ups on this board but you might identify with one of the other three characters.
If you can find an adult to curl up with I hope you enjoy the tale.
Oh Effix you have excelled yourself.
“ I doubt it will move again to 500p"
Today's opening price - 500.5p. Even you haven't been so wrong this quickly before.
Airffix03 - “ I doubt it will move again to 500p......very strong gut feeling”…didn’t you explicitly state it would NEVER go over 300p?? Stop changing the goal posts, your gut is just full of brown stuff.
we'll see old boy! One of us might well be suffering the effects of humble pie and I am quite willing to admit it if proved wrong. With a welcome dividend coming in a few days time and sitting on a equity gain of around 90% I feel fairly chipper myself - how about you? ;-)
@NorfolkRhapsody - you cannot be more wrong. There's no more demand for the shares and it's going nowhere. As I said, it's a downward spiral from here. Forget any raises, it's over!
Given your past success predicting DRX price movement I'd suggest you change your diet or request urgent medical attention. I have little doubt that the readers of this board would be happy to suggest a particular medical discipline to whom you might seek advice.
In the meantime I too would encourage you to post more de-ramping missives as they do seem to have the opposite effect to that you appear to intend (currently up 1.7% today and still climbing back to 500p and beyond).
I doubt it will move again to 500p......very strong gut feeling
For all of our benefit, can you just say 'this share will never go above £6' please?!
Yeap. That's it... It tried a few times but couldn't even clear 500p zone. The proper selling has just started today. Will go back where it belongs.
I have been holding Drax for a long time and wanted to add more. I was just wondering if various suppliers going under would cause bad debts issue for Drax and if yes - how big the impact could be.
I think the Barclays research price is very achievable.
This winter will prove the Drax concept. They have built a zero carbon business (Drax PS)with the added benefit of pumped storage. The system is crying out for flexibility.
So the business is bringing in cash this winter and the value going forward if demonstrated.
Pinnacle looks like a fantastic acquisition. There is self supply for all 4 units this winter and, even if the non CFD unit is less utilised next summer, the biomass can be sold onto a third party.
And that is even before Carbon Capture.
Tbh - I don’t factor that into my analysis. Is a bonus.
Maybe Drax were looking with the timing of their purchases - but who cares?!?
