Crossword Cybersecurity
The Government is keen to boost entrepreneurship and give small British businesses a better chance of becoming world leaders.
For Ken Wotton, of investment manager Gresham House, this means Chancellor Rishi Sunak could take steps to increase venture capital tax relief, encouraging savers to invest in young businesses that are attempting to transform their industries.
“If he takes this step, the Chancellor could give a significant boost to companies such Crossword Cybersecurity, which we believe is among the most exciting early-stage investment opportunities in the UK,” he said.
The Aim company focuses on the commercialises university research and develops cyber security and risk management software. Valued at £24m, Crossword Cybersecurity's shares are up 21pc since floating in 2019. Its turnover increased 25pc last year to £1.6m.

Share price up nearly 9% on news or rumours? Not aware of anything myself.

Whilst DARK has has traded some 2.2M shares at £8+ each today which could possibly have prevented Weir Group losing business from a destructive ransomware attack.
https://www.heraldscotland.com/business_hq/19633211.glasgow-based-weir-group-rocked-cyber-attack/
GLASGOW’S Weir Group has issued a profit warning after being subjected to an attempted ransomware attack.
In a statement released after the stock market had closed this evening, the Glasgow engineering giant said its third quarter profitability would be impacted by the cybersecurity incident, citing “revenue deferrals on shipment delays and under-recoveries”.
While the company said that capabilities were being “progressively restored”, it expects “operational inefficiencies” to continue into the fourth quarter.
The group noted it was holding talks with regulators and intelligence services over the attack.
Weir has downgraded its profit guidance following the incident, and now expects profits before tax for the full year to be in the region of £230 million to £245m. Analysts had been guiding on profits of about £270m.
thats so irrelevant.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2021/10/02/britain-capable-launching-offensive-cyber-attacks-against-russia/
Britain will launch “offensive” cyber attacks in response to similar assaults or disinformation campaigns by “hostile states” such as Russia, the Defence Secretary has said, as he unveiled plans for a £5bn digital warfare centre in the heart of the red wall.
In an interview with The Telegraph, Ben Wallace revealed that the new National Cyber Force headquarters will be built in the North West, in a move Boris Johnson hopes will emulate the construction of GCHQ, the government’s listening post, outside Cheltenham under Winston Churchill’s premiership.
Mr Wallace said the agency, which is expected to employ thousands of hackers and analysts by 2030, would “put Britain at the front” of countries with the ability to carry out cyber attacks.
“We will be one of the very, very few nations in the world with that scale,” he said.
some valid points, this is one for the long term, as long as their products are successful
/Continued
Outlook:
· Continuing to drive growth and meet market expectations of 50% revenue growth in 2021. - at least meeting outlook no upgrade though.
· Looking ahead the Board is confident of delivering strong revenue growth in FY 2022 taking revenues to £4m. - what profit?
· In July 2021, undertook an oversubscribed fundraising of approximately £5.0 million at a price of 30 pence per share. - thats why i am here but are they just going to spend this on salaries?
· In August 2021, Crossword acquired Stega UK Limited ("Stega"), the threat intelligence and monitoring company. - no idea if this is good
· Commenced a pilot of Rizikon with a global Aerospace, Defence and Security company that has over 6,000 suppliers. - has potential
· Target over 1,000 organisations using Rizikon to assess over 10,000 suppliers by end 2022. - they have 300 today.
· Launch Crossword in Oman in H2 2021 in partnership with Al-Rawahy Holdings. - why Oman and what is the potential there?

@amina52 I am not defo selling but questioning.

Some thoughts below against bullet points on RNS
27 September 2021 - London, UK - Crossword Cybersecurity Plc (AIM:CCS, "Crossword", the "Company" or the "Group"), the technology commercialisation company focused solely on cyber security and risk, today announces its unaudited interim results for the 6 months ended 30 June 2021.
Financial Highlights:
· Total revenue increased by 22% to £824,923. - So this revenue is tiny, they need to be doing more than this every month! then what net margin can they achieve?
· Product and Consulting revenue increased by 30% over the same period in the prior year. - this is people dependent, people are expensive, I'd want £80K per annum basic so £120K cost to CCS. So this can't grow big style.
· Consulting recurring revenue increased by more than 85% over the same period in the prior year. - must have been really low.
· Total comprehensive loss for the period was £1,546,188, an increase of £152,995 over the same period in the prior year. The increase is due to additional overheads, particularly for legal and professional fees, as a result of corporate activities such as fund raise, acquisition, and share split, during the period. - not good, why spend cash on corp activities such as share split?
· Cash and Cash Equivalents at 30 June 2021 were £682,407. - market cap is £25M leaving another £24.3M
Operational Highlights:
· Launched Rizikon to the 10,000 Chartered Institute of Information Security members. - has potential
· Continued the roll out of Rizikon with our membership body program, to increase Rizikon market penetration. - has potential
· Tenfold increase in number of Rizikon users, c300, assessing nearly 4,000 suppliers. - 30 grown to 300, can they get 3,000?
· Commenced work with University of Glasgow on Privacy Governance Software. - good Univ but whats in it for CCS?
· Launched the InnovateUK funded project to investigate Manufacturing Supply Chain Risk with Liverpool John Moores University. - ditto
· Crossword's cyber security consulting division continued to grow in a range of high-profile sectors and to drive recurring revenue. - people centric expensive
· Crossword completed £1.6m equity fundraise through a placing and subscription of Crossword Ordinary Shares at a price of 260 pence per share. - dilution
· Completed a 10:1 share split to support share liquidity giving the Company a post share split price of 42 pence. - so what waste of cash
· Tara Cemlyn-Jones and Robert Coles joined the board of the Company as non-executive directors. - no comment
· Acquired Verifiable Credentials Limited, adding 'Identiproof' to the product portfolio. - no comment
· Signed HOTs with Al-Rawahy Holdings to partner with Crossword in the Gulf region. - Head of Terms means what?
did not mean to offend. anyways could you please outline why you intend to sell ?, for the benefit of all
thanks
@amina52 - I am shareholder in CCS but questioning it after seeing the half year results.
I was answering @draft question on the topic of - "if this did a Darktrace mcap".
CCS m/cap is approx £25m and Dark is say £5Bn so that's 200 times bigger which would be a shareprice of £66
But they have no products that compete with DARK at all do they that was my point.
they keep saying they are looking for 4mill revenue for 2022, very odd given this interim revenue was only 900k
this is a massive risk
too many placings
low revenue but from a hell of a lot of clients
generally IT and cyber firms dont do well on AIM
theyd have to win a massive contract really
Giant Group, the umbrella company that has thousands of contractors on its books, has been targeted by a "sophisticated" cyber-attack that floored systems and left workers out in the cold, the biz has now confirmed. The attack happened last Wednesday (September 22) and forced the outfit – known to many as Giant Pay – to shut down its whole network, including its phone and email systems, as well as its IT infrastructure. It said last night it was still working on a "technical issue that is preventing us from getting the giant umbrella and giant accounts portals back up and running."
The incident blew up last week when contractors, many of whom work in IT, were unable to contact the company or carry out payroll-related tasks. In a statement issued last night, Giant Group said:
Giant Group was the victim of a sophisticated cyber-attack on September 22nd. International law firm Crowell & Moring immediately put in place a team of experts in the US, UK and Brussels who have been carrying out necessary steps as part of the ongoing investigation.Together, we continue to work with our insurers, the ICO and the NCA on the investigation, alongside a number of other specialist advisers.Giant Group went on to imply that its reticence to share information was down to the nature of the attack, saying it had shared updates as soon as it was advised that it was "safe to do so." At this stage it's not known who is behind the onslaught and the company has not responded to questions over whether the attackers used ransomware. A spokesperson for Britain's National Crime Agency told The Register: "The NCA is aware of an incident affecting Giant Group Ltd and we are working with partners to better understand its impact." The Reg also asked the UK data privacy watchdog and Crowell & Moring for comment. According to reports from irate workers, there are still some discrepancies over pay, which the firm says it hopes – but cannot confirm as yet – to resolve by the end of the week.
The company also confirmed that it had made interim payments to more than 8,000 contractors who are paid for work they do with other companies and organisations via the payroll services provider. It is not clear if everyone who is due money has been paid, or if they have received their full amount.
i think those who hold long term will do well, hopefully
A 9/10p drop from the sharesplit isn't a good sign. Over the last few months there has been the acquisitions which have in turn mean a much larger wage bill. If we don't get this large defence company on board quickly we'll be down to the low twenties by the end of the year.
where do you think the share price will be late 2022 ? any estimates anyone?
