Certainly has been a mixed two days in this lark...a few opportunities presented themselves as ever during the meltdown! Good luck with evraz.
Funny couple of days...Putin never did much to help me with my EVR leveraged trade..stopped out...still sitting on cash...but April is here soon might just wait. .no rush..always another day on the markets
I had bodycote post crash, should have kept them by the looks of it! Cheers for that one twonko, will have a look. On the high yielders you might want to investigate Hansard, HSD, just had some numbers out and the yield confirmed and up a bit on last year too.
I've always been pretty dodgy with banks as well. I should have done better. Anyway, I spun a coin last month and Lloyds lost so I put a modest 4 figure sum into GLI Finance for the reliable 10% yield. Blow me down if it didn't suddenly rocket in price. Still reckon they are worth a look. There is a lot going on with them at the moment, all good. Glad to be in BBY as well.
Difficult choices or maybe not? Thankfully stan isn't a big enough yield to go after but worth keeping an eye on and I've got a few in case the wheels don't come off. Hsba is a bigger dilemma as it's near enough the magic 5 on yield!! Supermarkets are defensive and morrisons in npton was packed this morning! Can't get excited about lloyds after most of mine got sold in the 20's...no yield or maybe a small yield to come? To me it just looks like a recovery one that's already recovered but I've never been much good on banks.
I read a article in the Telegraph about stan and the concerns in Asia are reminesant of those in 2000,if I recall correctly they almost halved in value back then..to risky methinks...now its between morrison Lloy or Sbry..or I may just hedge & put some in all three...
I thought you where yoking...morrisons looks interesting but I may wait untill after the results, not confident they will be that brilliant..and as for stan,do you think they will drop below the div payout ammount? decisions decisions..
Predictive text again, yield not 'yoked'!
Morning bud. I sold half my EMG into the rise and diversified a bit just in case plus the yoked okay but not compelling enough in itself to hold excess. STAN is highly thought of and tipped everywhere as the one to hold but the SP,hmmmm!! They're ex for the final on the 12th but unlike HSBA not quarterly. A bit like Glaxo and Astra on comparison that one will drop like a stone on ex div day! Hsba has the bigger yield and also ex for the 19 cents on the 12th,otherwise about 10 cents for the other quarters but a bigger yield. Supermarkets out of favour and the contrarian buy is Morrisons, results out 13th(!) but has the biggest yield after sains and tesco last.
yeah,me to,ive been selling a few aimers and putting into the bigger comps,a little less volatility is easier on the nervous system, mwa being a typical example.lol..don't really know much about the supermakets except theyre perceived aza safe bet than most, the poster lego is probably more up to scratch in that area.
No not sold out all of emg, been top slicing just recently and feel that I have enough in aim shares, so just looking around for somthing with a bit of upside & stability,if such a thing exists..was also looking at lloy but some of the supermarkets are looking a bit cheaper now..
dunno what the short term outlook is over that side of the world, but all the pmi's have been dropping this year so far, which is proving that a slowdown is happening, best watch out for Februaries pmi's due at the end of this month..chinas last pmi was about 48.0ish I think,so it needs to be more than that? I take it you'v sold emg?big volumes still on that one.
Thanks..I think they have a divy soon..was looking to buy some..?
there main market is in china and south east asia,so they're suffering from the slow down and shadow banking worries,(hsbc to a certain extent aswell).
Been looking at standard chartered shares.. whats happened to them?
Blimey lego wot you doin on ere! thought you were a Barclays fan!
You must be up a notch on kaz now ( the recent ones) GL
Cheers bud, hope you had a good week. Strange how the sentiment on EMG changed so quickly, the yield is okay at just under 5p now but it seems to have motored on the buybacks of all things or maybe something else who knows/cares as long as they go up. Have a good weekend bud.
Indeed, the ones I've kept are well up but just wish I'd kept a few more of the 210 ones!! Man group and ladbrokes have smashed my targets this week and I've sliced a few of both to diversify and yet again averaged down on morrisons and got into a few more quarterly fundies like ALAI,SOI,HFEL added along with APF and JEMI. Hsba now my biggest paper loss and man group second largest profit after so long the biggest loss! Chasing the supermarkets down still and out of the tobacco ones now. Good luck on evraz, never done any good on them personally, they're certainly cheap enough now! On the specs mwana looking poorly and IFL was up a bit when I last looked. Range res my biggest and worst currently. Wish they'd go up a penny or two!! Have a good weekend bud, early start for me tomorrow.
I suppose I should start on topic...bby doing quite well still..nudging on nicely..emg pushed on through two days running..pmo made a bit of recovery today, other than that I bought a few evr..(tight stop set) goldies pulled back a little with gold easing off a bit..a little more top slicing....all in all a good week..
Cracking day on man bud, made a healthy difference. Well done on your goldie.
That must have done something for the portfolio over on emg..certainly gave me a good day, along with abg..even good old girl is holding up..little by little....
Glad to see two fully paid up members still standing!! I don't think there's an obligation to be holders these days thistle! Man group well I'm as much in the dark as everyone else but unlike first group they've got surplus cash as opposed to crippling debts so I'm hopeful there will be some kind of divvy. I've heard and read all manner of predictions but as I'm currently working my lot out on 3.7p annual I'm thinking I'll be pleasantly surprised...let's see what happens tomorrow!
Im still standing as well, just arrived back from Leominster been there all week..(working) EMG tommorow...are they going to pay a special divy? bad omen from me..whenever I get into comps that pay divs they decide to stop them. ...are you listening FGP..
Last man standing?...haven't had these for a year or more but guess I'm still an honourary member!
