I always intend to pull out on TD approval. Made 8% profit and may well come back to AAZ when I get a better idea of their finances. Wishing all long term holders good luck. Tony
I must say I am surprised at the muted response of the share price. After yesterday's 10% fall it's only up marginally. Basically permission granted now puts the company right back on track. Yes the company has bled cash but against that gold, copper and silver prices have substantially increased so in terms of future cash flow (greater cash flows from not digging the stuff out of the ground minus extra interest payments due) may be neutral or even net positive. Added to that the company have been developing the new mines apace and you have a solid argument for a 25-50% hike in the price.
It's clearly not happened so why? Perhaps I'm being to optimistic that the minor administrative tasks remaining are more substantial than the RNS is letting on or, that Mr Market, battered by underwhelming performance of junior miners is refusing to get out of bed.
Which is it? We'll see....
Plenty more nose bleeds to come.
Yes really great news now we can get cracking.
Tailings dam raise approved, brilliant.

Charteris owned 300,000 AAZ shares and is not a distressed outfit. However, they are more interested in silver miners and could see a profit elsewhere if it was them who sold out. The company really does need a decision please on the tailings dam, like in the next week or so.
I wonder who the distressed seller was.

58.7p lowest I have ever paid for AAZ shares. Not sure why the sudden drop from 67p.
In my opinion the RNS is very positive in that it signposts a) a major company is willing to support AAZ and b) talks with the Azer government over Demirli are clearly progressing well or they’d not refer to this in an RNS or be doing deals with an important business partner that they can fulfil.
That said, that they need to create liquidity is a reminder to investors that a poor outcome here could be dilution or even wipe out. The market has grasped to the negative bit regardless as to whether this is a likely outcome from todays RNS or not (and it’s not likely in my view).
RNS response was at best neutral to slightly negative.

Stop gap kind of RNS. Peer review process by Government should have completed by now. Any queries resolved with company by now if any. No excuse for continued TD delays.
The precursor to another positive RNS soon.

The AGMs coming up soon hopefully we'll get a little bit more detail on whether shortly in taking the biscuit (geddit?)
Another company that used shortly was Nanoco on 24 January. Shortly arrived on 11 March at 2024. In this case shortly became a very long 46 days.
AAZ used the word shortly on 17 April and today marks the 47th day of shortly.

...or when they feel like it - without any specific evidence, this all has a rather political whiff to it from the start.
Has set them back several years turning the cash position around and missing the incredibly high gold prices. A real shame.
Just under 62p. Shortly must now be very very soon.

I have added a few today as I get a strong feeling that the ball is about to start rolling again. Looking at the assets I think that Demerli will be up and running before the end of 2024. The Russians are gone? The locals want to get back to work after a long holiday? Just my own thoughts so do your own research.

Someone was unhappy about it. Logically a deal like it would not be arranged if the tailings dam extension was not going to be improved.

It would only require limited buyer interest in tight liquidity to spark this back to life and now we are in the wake of a bullish copper price trend in recent and surpassing gold to be top riser among all major commodities this year I would bet we see institutional interest return to small cap producers and explorers.
Probably Dam extension permission news leaked.
But yes, about time this starts moving in the right direction.
It looks like some news about to break or somebody has jumped in early.
I rather think they'll need something useful to say a little bit earlier than November. Like before when their AGM is held.
Transforming green economy needs copper.
Providing AAZ have done a good job of the safety and design of tailings dam extension approvals should happen this month for the company to offer something useful to say at COP29 24 November. They need a July to September quarterly report to do that otherwise we just have mountains containing copper to look at, no matter how nice photographically it is.

Agreed the frog is well overcooked and destroying the golden goose.
Well Libero Copper & Gold looks a good investment overseas?
I sense the Azeri Government has boiled the AAZ frog for sometime. They need to start moving on this to allow the company to earn income and grow the business. Hopefully AAZ will not be drawn into other ventures abroad.

Anybody want to sell, I have 62p on the offer?
AAZ has made some mistakes in the past few years mainly invetor partnerships. However, I suspect a significant amount of engineering analysis has been taken on board on the increase in dam height and all the mitgation steps taken to ensure the design change is sound. The Azeri Government are likely to peer review the data with their own experts. They would have needed a month to assess all the data and officials probably took two weeks to pass all the documentation to experts. After working independently the peer reviewers may meet the government at a meeting and review all their advice. The results should be known some time in May in my opinion and the government would sign it off if everything is okay.
Bullish chart coil formation, predicts sp, of 91.5. However volume was light on last day of trading, so suggest wait on breakout of mid price 63, on a close price basis. Chart coil formations, are recognized by the reduction in volatility, and the tendency to break the middle price between peaks and troughs, while trending sideways. Coil chart patterns are usually fast, when the breakout occurs. The sp, is above the long term down trendline, which is bullish. There appears to be support below 60, but take account of the large 10% spread , when initiating a stop order. DYOR.

Slightly off topic, but this O&G analyst just published a photo diary of his recent tour of Azerbijan, which included meeting various Govt ministers/representatives.
The short article gives a good flavour of the country. Landmine clearance clearly a big issue in NK..

Anglo Asian Mining shares plunge 40% as profit drops in first half
Anglo Asian Mining PLC on Tuesday said profit fell in the first half of 2023, as revenue declined and cost of sales increased.
Shares in the AIM-listed copper, gold and silver producer focused on Azerbaijan plunged 41% to 37.83 pence each in London on Tuesday morning.
In the six months that ended June 30, Anglo Asian Mining said pretax profit fell 75% to USD1.4 million from USD5.7 million a year earlier.
This was due to cost of sales rising 24% to USD25.2 million from USD20.4 million, while revenue fell 2.2% to USD30.8 million from USD31.5 million.
Looking ahead, Anglo Asian Mining said it will be primarily focused on working with the Azerbaijan government to fully resume mining and processing at Gebabek.
"Longer term, we will remain committed to pursuing our strategy to become a mid-tier miner and delivering attractive shareholder returns," the company said.
Chief Executive Officer Reza Vaziri commented: "Our results for the period were satisfactory, and within expectations, given that we were predominantly only mining from our open pit mine. The ore mined contains reducing gold grades as the mine approaches the end of its life. However, copper production increased as the processing capacity of our flotation plant was increased and a higher proportion of the capacity of our crushing and grinding circuits was utilised to provide it with feedstock.
"The curtailment of our agitation leaching and flotation processing whilst an environmental inspection was carried out, whilst regrettable, was understandable. The company has fully cooperated with all government requests to ensure the environmental inspection was carried out properly and to expedite other related matters. The report by Micon of the environmental inspection is currently being finalised."
Due to the curtailment of agitation leaching and flotation processing, Anglo Asian Mining said it revised its production guidance for 2023 to between 30,000 and 34,000 gold equivalent ounces, assuming agitation leaching and flotation processing will not be restarted until 2024.

At some point the rising tide effect will bring Anglo Asian back to £1 levels. Increasing margins thanks for record high gold price $2390+ and copper moving towards highs set during the pandemic.
90p coming
They won’t be back to normal as we still don’t have floatation running. I am hoping that the TD wall raise news and re-start of floatation is announced at the same time to soften the blow!

Wait for the week long holiday to be over before we can possibly hear something?
Hearing positive news very soon.
Agreed it always looked a strange investment. Maybe still have some value or maybe not? Lets concentrate on Azer as they already have enough on their plate.
Libero was a costly distraction. It's good they've realised the need to concentrate in Azerbaijan but bad that they've probably wasted their double investment
