BlueCruise! We tested it in the real world, so our customers don’t have to.
So much press coming out but all we want is that 7am RNS saying Hello market its us....
What makes these systems stand apart, though, is the inclusion of an active driver monitoring system in the form of an infrared sensor on the steering column that tracks the drivers’ eyes to make sure they are keeping them on the road.
BlueCruise is Ford’s answer to General Motors’ Super Cruise, which is considered the gold standard for Level 2 advanced driver assist systems. These systems work in concert with a number of distinct features, like adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, blindspot detection, pedestrian monitoring, and stop sign detection.
Not every F-150 and Mach-E will be automatically eligible for the software update. F-150 owners who opted for the $1,595 Ford Co-Pilot 360 Active 2.0 package can purchase BlueCruise for an additional $600. For Mustang Mach-E owners, BlueCruise will come standard on the CA Route 1, Premium, and First Edition variants as part of the $3,200 Comfort and Technology package.
Until then, owners will have access to the second generation of Ford’s ADAS, known as Co-Pilot 360. This includes improved versions of features like lane centering, adaptive cruise control, active park assist, blindspot assist, and more.

It is a bit trickier to see the lights in the F-150. But I found them in this B-Roll

between 0:58 and 1:03 you an see both LEDs, for the left, look at the black plastic of the door next to the A-Pillar. It is often hidden by his cheek. The right LED is above the screen in the central console to the right - above the picture of the truck. I believe that the camera is on the left side above the screen - but we shouldn't be able to see it - or I suppose it could be on the instrument panel
The clue was in the alternate flashing infrared lights at 1:22 :)
Watched three times and looked for any tell tale SEE giveaways - it was the fact that Blue Cruise tracks eye movements ‘even though sunglasses’ that clinched it for me lol !!
The real scoop for journos when we announce we are involved will be highlighting that both GM and Ford are built using the same underlying algorithms from SEE.
At that point, if the story breaks in a good way, it could go a long way to letting Joe public know about SEE.
The merc EQS may get added to the list tomorrow.
Will be getting lots of press.
Blue as in the colorful highlights in the instrument panel that indicate BlueCruise is available for hands-free driving on 100,000 miles of divided highways that Ford has mapped across North America. The feature, now available for purchase, will be activated by an over-the-air update on properly-equipped vehicles in the third quarter of this year.
While details are still emerging, the Ford system aims to play in the same space as Autopilot and Super Cruise. U.S. manufacturers have taken the lead in semi-autonomous systems with a view towards fully-autonomous, so-called Level 5, vehicles. For now, systems like BlueCruise are Level 2 grade, requiring driver attention.
Similar to GM’s Super Cruise (which debuted on the now-extinct Cadillac CT6 sedan in 2018 and is available on Escalade/CT4/CT5 models and the Chevrolet Bolt EUV), BlueCruise monitors driver engagement via a camera on the steering column.

Brick,
Ford have had lane centring, cruise control for a while. But putting it all together with Seeing Machines for DMS and all of the road mapping data - that is what happened in Palo Alto.
As Colin says, have a watch, see the lights and make a guess...

So great to see this marketed, ford have done a solid job with the name and attitude I think.
We need to see this out there to heat up the competition, should help bump along the rfqs for those who don't want to be left behind.
Why does the article state that Ford developed the technology in their lab in Palo Alto ? Does that mean they put components together, or developed their own system ?
CB not saying its us, he’s leaving that to others to speak about he says on Twitter, must be in the huff
By introducing BlueCruise in a high volume (900,000 annual sales) vehicle like the F-series, Ford projects sales of some 100,000 vehicles by the end of this year. The technology will be rolled out to other Fords in coming years.
