Hi radiogent,
Very interesting to learn that.
They now do it as virtual product placement.
They did one for C4 last year tied into the First Dates series for a premium drink.
They are using AI to generate both the opportunities that are available in the program as well as all the target audience data so the advertiser can then choose which scene would be right for them & then insert the product or bill board accordingly. They are saying on average it's creating 6 to 12 opportunities per hour.
The success rate & uplift for the advertisers seems to be very significant indeed according to outsider 3rd party's like Kantar & Dynata.
Now they moving to a programmatic solution for doing it.
The recent one that amazed me as I'm not techie in any way (although it sound like it will be old hat to you) was with a minority artist singer that L'Oreal 's Mugler wanted to work with to reach a demographic's they wanted to target/reach. Mirriad spoke to the video director before the video to the song was made & asked for a couple of "windows" to be made in it (beginning & part way through) . Once complete they inserted the Mugler Billboards.
So they helped plan it from start to finish which impressed me, as to the level of there involvement.
Maybe you can contribute to the discussions on the Mirriad ticker ? MIRI

No please don’t remake them . The Dame will instruct the remakes undergo a diversity update and and the new rainbow characters displaying their differences will become more central than the fun escapist plots
Itv spending money on shows my vote goes to new thunderbirds / stingray / Batman and robin made in the 60s style, bring back professionals in a upto date style, most of the shows in the 60s / 70s could all be made into todays style and itv would have more viewers than now.can it be imagined the type of shows made in woke style.
Hi LOTM
I'm one of the very few people who have actually used Mirriard on a deal (google Karcher and Discovery from about 2010.
Coronation St have been using PP for years now (Costa Coffee and Co Op were two big ones.)
PP has simply not taken off as it has in the states (Mainly due to OFCOM restrictions of undue prominence)
Hi radiogent,
I personally had never ever heard of Mirriad until 3 weeks ago.
Originally I believe there technology was for post production stuff for the film industry. They then pivoted to virtual product placements.
I think you'll find there about to have massive traction, given over 40% of USA content providers have signed up for there offering & there in negotiations with another of the top 3 which would take them to over 55% of the USA market.
In a company post yesterday a number of those massive players are going to be featuring Mirriad in there up coming TV upfronts 2024 presentations in May, where all the big players release details of the autumn schedules, new series releases etc so watch that space.
Then think what that same technology could do for ITV & all its content & advertisers to boost the bottom line.

The Hell has frozen over.
Trolls praise the Dame.
Shareholders meeting:
* financial forecast update
* interim dividend 1.7 to 2.2 pence
????
Mirriad have been around for 20 years... for some reason has never really got any traction.
Kevin Lygo is a Russian troll? Do not believe a word the man says. Pogo knows better than Kevin. ITV is not hemorraging money on productions it makes purely for UK audiences.
That extra 160 million that the Dame pledged in 2022 for ITVX productions was money well spent despite the fact that LYygo is saying returns on some productions are minimal or making a loss. The Dame could not have foreseen that the additional spend would not generate the necessary revenue.
Only the City saw ITVX increased spending and kickbacks for the studio bosses for what it was and sold ITV after the announcement. A futile gesture designed purely to line the pockets of studio bosses.
How much longer must we keep this bunch of cronies feeding shareholder money to their mates in the industry whilst failing to act on a advertising world that has vanished?
McCall out. Fresh leadership and direction. Paywalls and license fee money
Another batch of funds transferred from ITV and buyback is back in the game...
And our trolls still keep trying... I don't know what hurts more, lost money, unearned profits or the fact that others are doing their own thing and don't care about stupid opinions.
Would be good to hear "Kevin" explain why his "idiots" commissioned the series if he knew it would be difficult to sell, at the AGM ??
They're probably boomerang payments and end up back in the deep pockets of the initiators. The whole place stinks with these guys in charge. GET SHUT.
If the top watched show cannot generate enough revenue to meet the cost of production then what about the flops like Big brother and I'm a celebrity where "celebrities" and presenters are paid millions.
Some idiot (Lygo) is commissioning these shows and paying ever increasing fees to celebrities and politicians when the advertising revenue has moved away.
Free to Air is dead. License fee money or pay walls are the future.
I think ITV need not worry about the competition, Kevin Lygo has just scuppered sales of Mr Bates. Why worry about promoting your shows when Mr Lygo tells the world your top show is a loser. I can't stop laughing, who needs enemies when they have Lygo on board, what a waste of space!

I've just been reading that ITV lost £1M on its agenda setting drama Mr Bates verses The Post Office !
So they apparently said at the "Voice of the Listener & Viewer spring conference on Wednesday"
I hope Mirriad (MIRI) had someone at the conference & spoke to ITV to tell them help is on the way & that they can increase there revenue stream significantly with virtual product placements that streamers will not be able to avoid etc as it fit seamlessly into the program itself. Rather than being a separate break Ad.
Check it out, it seems to be future of advertising

Trolls in action. Today's day on this forum clearly shows our local troll company, multiple accounts of the Russian troll & others. This is good, because it is easy to finally see the true face of certain "people" and the mutual connections of certain accounts. Although this is not yet a complete picture of this entire company, it shows its scale. For those who are curious, I recommend using AI to compare comments and indicate percentage similarities. In any case, it's nice to read this gibberish, which also proves that financial failure hurts and errors in judgment cost money.
Life goes on. "The dogs are barking, the caravan is moving on."
With her on the throne, if a bid ever developed at say, £2.50, the SP would drop. Toms correct. Her performance or lack of it will not be going unnoticed. It depends on who she takes down with her that matters to some. Corrupt to the gunnels the lot of them.
Rhyl beautiful today thank you. Even the local zombies are on the beach licking ice cream or something similar.
Jed, Both you and I cannot hope to know what the big institutional investors are discussing. They are the majority shareholders. They can initiate change. If the Dame's abysmal performance is obvious to you and I. If the ITV staff are fed up with the cronies at the top. That news will have filtered back to the big investors.
The AGM would be the place for her to step down. I am an optimist and live in hope that Dame McCall finally sees sense and calls it a day on a sheet show
Tom, I don't disagree with anything you have said or defend the Dame, I am just saying no matter what you call her or say on here it doesn't look as if she or other members of the board are going anywhere. If your not happy with the SP you either sit it out or sell at a loss and move on. Simple as that.
Well said OMalley. May the sun shine on Rhyl today.
Taking 20 million from the business for a performance that barely rates a 1million p.a. reward is tantamount to theft. She should have foregone her bonuses from year 1. Greedy, corrupt, narcissist who covered up sexual abuse in the workforce. She needs to get the boot.
The whole McCall episode stinks. A liar, a crook, a dud. She's hangs around like a bad smell along with her team of parasites.
It would not surprise me one dot if it became apparent that she's being protected to cover the depth of corruption within the board and other deadbeats higher up the ladder.
In relation to her performance as a CEO she should have gone years ago when it was blindingly obvious she's out of her depth.
Defending the indefensible. All the old gits line up to defend the Dame's honour.
Yet the facts speak for themselves. She wiped 10 billion off the valuation of the company. She took 20 million in remuneration which is undeserved and way out of line with CEO's of similar valuation companies with better performance (check out Greggs CEO).
She put a known sexual predator back on air (the Sun newspaper had meetings with ITV back in 2020 where they showed McCall and the board photographs and evidence of Schofield's relationship with the runner). She then went to Parliament and in front of the regulators lied and spun them stories that she knew to be untrue. She covered up her msitakes with a whitewash inquiry.
She has to go along with her EZJ cronies at the AGM.
Keep up the good work Tom.
I am convinced that Windbag is a McCall mole.
The numbers tell the story, McCall is hopeless.
Good morning tom, well your still at it.
ITV is run by the board and not 1 person, all these plans are jointly discussed and passed by the board for the long term of ITV .At present there are no big shareholders that can put the knife in or order any changes. Now that's their plan and their NOT going anywhere no matter how much you spout on about it. You have to play the system shut up or move on simple.
Oh dear Tom. Once again the art of tautology is not lost on you. You are slightly better than a night cap zzzzzzzzzzz
