RE: Hydrogen is a great idea
Fri 17:56
Hi Love you. That was probably one of the most sensible posts i have read on a BB for some considerable time. From a environmental point of view there really is no other option and the sooner BP get on with it the better. From a financial point of view, who knows. ATB Speedy

Hydrogen is a great idea
Thu 10:20
Hi all,

Hydrogen as a fuel source is a great idea if people want to run lorries/buses/planes/heavy machinery/cars all on a zero emission fuel.

Batteries are not suitable for most of the above as they can barely power a car for 250 miles, never mind a truck or heavy machinery. Also batteries are not clean because you have to mine huge amounts of lithium and other metals/chemicals, and then fit every electric car with new batteries every 5-8 years: it's probably more polluting in total than just a standard combustion engine.

However, hydrogen LPG and/or ethanol are far greener and more practical solutions to finding a cleaner fuel source to keep the economies of the world moving at a decent rate and to keep people in their currently accustomed standard of living for the next 50-60 years..

Once a tank and fuel line has been designed that keep the hydrogen compressed, stable, safe, and delivers it safely to the combustion engine then the next task becomes how to produce vast quantities of hydrogen. I would suggest dedicated tidal power plants as you then have a lot of water on site as well to electrolyse to produce the hydrogen, also tidal power would be coastal - hence ideal for shipping and marketing it on global markets.

Hence hydrogen seems like the answer to me - now get on with it BP !!

BP, Nouryon and Port of Rotterdam partner on green hydrogen study By Joanna Sampson15 April 2019 No comments Save Article The Port of Rotterdam has joined forces with oil giant BP and industrial chemicals company Nouryon to explore the opportunity of making “green hydrogen” via water electrolysis for BP’s refinery in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The refinery currently uses hydrogen made from hydrocarbons to desulphurize products. According to the partnership, replacing this entirely with green hydrogen produced from water using renewable energy could potentially result in a reduction of 350,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year based on current circumstances. The parties have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to study the feasibility of a 250-megawatt water electrolysis facility to produce up to 45,000 tonnes of green hydrogen yearly using renewable energy. It would be the largest of its kind in Europe. Nouryon would build and operate the facility and the Port of Rotterdam would facilitate local infrastructure and investigate options for further development of a green hydrogen hub in the area. The partners said they intend to take a final investment decision on the project in 2022. bp_refinery_overview Source: Port of Rotterdam Ruben Beens, CEO of BP Netherlands said, “BP is committed to advance a low carbon future. We have committed to reduce emissions in our operations, improve our products to help customers reduce their emissions and create low carbon businesses.” “The use of green hydrogen, made from water with renewable energy, has the potential to deliver significant emissions reductions at Rotterdam. Working with Nouryon and the Port of Rotterdam will allow us to explore and fully understand the technical, operational and financial dimensions of this potential opportunity.” Knut Schwalenberg, Managing Director of Industrial Chemicals at Nouryon, added, “This partnership builds on our expertise in electrolysis technology to open up new value chains.” “With green hydrogen, we can provide sustainable solutions to our customers ranging from low-carbon fuels and industrial processes to new forms of circular chemistry.” Allard Castelein, CEO of the Port of Rotterdam, commented, “Development of large-scale electrolysers connected to offshore wind farms is vital for making solid progress with the new energy system in order to realise our climate goals.” “This 250-megawatt electrolyser is a key proof point that Rotterdam has the ability to be a frontrunner in the energy transition, which is an important differentiator for the port industry.”

I think the easiest option is just not to litter - it's difficult to get people to go about picking up/recycling other people's waste unless you pay them a decent wedge.

Oops Officer!
14 Apr '19
Good Evening Gentlemen,

The poo continues to hold firm and we hope for a hike in the divi, as Donnie buys our oil.

It has been a funny old week that started on the occasion of my little T-Rexess' birthday. I stayed at residence for the big day. A rather handsome officer attended just after lunch and of course, it was imagined to be from Dmitri. After my little T-Rexess' indiscretion for refusing to understand the true nature of the officer's business, we both ended up going down to the police station.
In the back of the police car, I tipped my little T-Rexess the wink and we went into 'stealth mode' that we learnt in our insider dealing investigation. My little T-Rexess opted to go 'au naturelle' down below the skirt.
"Mr Dumbdog, we have received reports that you have been offending LSE Chat room users". "Oh dear", I reply. "Do you think all BARC investors are idiots?". Here we go again, "No comment". "Do you think all Sussex people are inferior?". Well, they do invest in BARC, "No comment". "Do you think all CNA investors are imbeciles?". Mustn't incriminate myself, "No comment".
My little T-Rexess had a fabulous interview and no charges were pressed and we have a NEW recruit for this evenings party. My little T-Rexess and I are off to the Cayman Islands to process the proceeds of our ARRS takeover. Teeny brain been nicked. bfn
