Cakes, pizza, fizzy drinks, instant noodles. They are just some of the foods labelled "ultra processed" and which could, according to French researchers, be linked to cancer. A study of 105,000 people hinted that the more of such foods people ate, the greater their risk.
The final salary scheme ended just before I retired, seven years ago. It is now a defined contribution scheme.
Does anyone know if they still operate a final salary scheme moving forward? I assume that with the financial problems we have had, any future employer contributions go into a defined contribution scheme.
Yep - this c***p about the company needs to be said. I have said it before, from what I see, this company is really a pension provider with a food producing facility on the side. Something needs to be done to generate any growth. My suggestion that they start producing/manufacturing/whatever food that contains less sugar for a start might get some new sales/growth - be the first food company that caters for diabetics like me and a few million others and is seen to be tackling obesity/children's lunch boxes etc. Maybe not Darby but someone else might consider this reasoned opinion I have which is there is a huge market in this sugar debate out there
glen. You have just about summed up how I feel about this runt of a company, that I am stuck with.
stop talking about this company and get real. The company has massive debt as well as a massive pension liability/commitment. The company's products are selling but needs to sell a lot more before that dents the debt/pension black hole AND the share price hangs around 40p for over a year - have I missed something here? Something radical needs to be done with it's products/brands to reach potential - what exactly I do not know but I am sure I will be told
Yes it is waffle and can't make anything out of it, who the hell writes these articles? My guess is they are referring to higher interest rates which are coming sooner or later impacting on bond rates meaning companies like PF will benefit, as the have high debts. You cannot rule out a debt reduction inspired SP recovery.
''translate'' this waffle in to Plain English, as I can't.

Perhaps he was the one with the ethics and is just trying to get away from the shady stuff
he might have his handful at interserve assuming it survives by the time he starts. Leaving a cushy job getting free shares each year for no delivery. Wonder if darby will now promote Carly Layton and claim his full bonus for year as he will then have 2 women in senior management.
Yes going to interserve, let's hope he does a better job there.
and seeing better prospects elsewhere. When will darby leave
Correction: it's 6% so on the basis of 790mn its 47mn (not 50mn). Anyway that story still stands: I think international is where the growth should come from given the tough UK trading environment. The other question it raises for me is the following: - growth is driven more non branded sales (lower margins )than it is from branded sales (higher margins). In fact half year results announced in November show branded is flat and non-branded is up by +10.1% leading to group level growth of only 1.5% - Given the growth of INT'L business of +26%, that means in effect that the UK branded business is in decline, which is a worry. Or am I reading this wrong?
what is it now? £50mn. 3 year cagr of 26% and it’s £100mn. vs current 790...starts to be material. But if they want to get real they need some strategic deals to explode that business.
Id take a guess at 26% better!
Yes +26% is good, but look at what they are increasing from!!! If you have sales of 1p, how much better are sales of 1.26?
what the view of this B.B. wrt the potential of the international division to the overall business results and sp? Appreciate small but growing at +26% At this rate it will become important; may take another 3 years before really significant but still..., A couple of strategic deals in this area and you could have a game changer... The sp did ok this week compared to the FTSE. Not all bad, no? (lone optimist who has been looking at this share for 3 years but has not invested yet)
2r, stay calm. Many others l feel just as frustrated. At the moment the company is a turd of a stock. We are getting mugged on a almost daily basis. Hopefully, some can day trade and make some good money. We others just have to bide our time. ATB
what the hell is going on? Even someone like me who is guilty of talking up this share has run out of patience. What are Nissin getting on an investment whereby they have lost 50% on their investment for the sake of 5m sales. What are Oasis getting out of this, they will top upto 10% within the next 4 months.

The Dow and FTSE surged 35 % PFD did not move....
It will behave the way it always behaves....down with the bad news......not up with the good news.
this should be a defensive stock let see it behave like one in the morning.
I topped up again at about 40.3p but lost hope and sold them again. God knows what's going to happen.
