Board changes
Appointment of Director
Carpetright plc, Europe's leading specialist carpet and floor coverings retailer, announces that Darren Shapland has been appointed to the board as an independent non-executive director, with effect from the close of the Annual General Meeting held on 8th September 2011.
Darren Shapland (44) was until recently an executive director of J Sainsbury plc. He was its Group Development Director from July 2010 until he stepped down from the board and was its Chief Financial Officer from 2005 to 2010. He remains the chairman of Sainsbury's Bank plc. He was the Group Finance Director of Carpetright between 2002 and 2005, and prior to that was the Finance Director of Superdrug Stores plc. Between 1988 and 2000 he held a number of financial and operational roles at Arcadia plc. He is also a non-executive director of Ladbrokes plc.

Committee changes
Alan Dickinson has today been appointed as the Chairman of the Remuneration Committee and a member of the Nomination Committee, replacing Guy Weston who steps down from the Board at the close of today's Annual General Meeting. Following Darren Shapland's appointment to the board, he is also being appointed as a member of the Remuneration Committee.

No other information is required to be disclosed pursuant to paragraph LR 9.6.13R of the Listing Rules of the Financial Services Authority in relation to the appointment of Darren Shapland as a Director of Carpetright.
