DIRECTORS'/PDMR INTERESTS IN SHARES

1. The Company has been advised that on 12 December 2008, 2,026 shares were allocated at £3.85 under the Company's All Employee Share Ownership Plan ("AESOP") which total included 32 shares for each of Lord Harris,  Mr J Kitching and Mr C Sollesse and 33 shares for Mr M Harris.

Also included in the purchase were 33 shares purchased for Mrs Caroline Sollesse. Shares purchased for Mrs Sollesse form part of Mr Sollesse's beneficial interest, below.

The beneficial shareholdings for these directors are now:

2. On 16 December 2008, Mr M Harris purchased 1,671,733 shares @ £3.315 per share from two companies within the Harris Ventures Group: accordingly, Lord Harris's beneficial interest has decreased by the same amount. In aggregate, the Harris family interests remain unchanged.

3. Mr C Sollesse exercised his award to acquire 7,369 (0.01%) ordinary shares of £0.01 each in the Company, granted under the Company's 2004 Long Term Incentive Plan, on 16 December 2008. The exercise price is £0.01 per share. 

4. In late October 2008 a series of sales of Carpetright shares by a company within the Harris Ventures Group occurred, thereby reducing Lord Harris's beneficial interest, as follows:

350,000 shares sold to Lord Harris;

350,000 shares sold to M Harris;

50,000 shares sold to M Harris and C Harris; and

50,000 shares sold to C Harris.

Items 1-3 were announced (RNS ref: 9903G) but Item 4 was an omission. Consequently, since then Lord Harris's beneficial interest has been over-stated by 50,000 shares.

The correct beneficial holding for Lord Harris is as shown above. The aggregate Harris family interest remains unchanged by this correction.
