We would like to announce that Actis, the emerging market private equity specialist, has sold a portion of the holding in Commercial International Bank - CIB - Egypt, representing 2.6% of CIB's total outstanding shares, in the open market to a group of international investors.
Actis acquired 9.1% of CIB, the leading bank in Egypt, in July 2009. This transaction made Actis the largest single shareholder in CIB.
Since then - and with over 60 years' legacy of investing in emerging markets as well as its experience in scaling financial institutions in high growth markets, particularly in the retail space along with its network of emerging market contacts - Actis has proved to be an extremely valuable partner to CIB, helping the Bank accelerate its growth in consumer banking.
This transaction is a partial realisation which is standard practice for a private equity investor. Actis retains a stake of 6.5% and a seat on the Board.

يود البنك أن يعلن عن قيام أكتس ، المتخصصة في الاستثمار المباشر في الأسواق الناشئة، ببيع جزء من حصتها في البنك وتبلغ 2.6% وقد تمت عملية البيع من خلال البورصة المصرية لمجموعة متعددة من مديري المحافظ وصناديق الاستثمار الدولية.
وكانت أكتس قد قامت في يوليو 2009 شراء حصة من أسهم البنك التجاري الدولي بلغت 9.1% لتصبح بذلك أكبر مساهم منفرد في رأسمال البنك. ومنذ ذلك الحين وعلى مدار الخمس سنوات الماضية أحرز البنك بشراكته مع أكتس تقدماً ملحوظاً في قطاع التجزئة المصرفية لما لها من خبرة عريضة طوال ستون عاماً من الاستثمار في الأسواق الناشئة ونجاحات متواصلة في مجال التجزئة المصرفية. ذلك فضلاً عما لديها من اتصالات وعلاقات عديدة بمعظم الأسواق الناشئة، الأمر الذى أسهم في الإسراع نحو تحقيق خطط البنك لتنمية قطاع التجزئة المصرفية.
جدير بالذكر أن قرار أكتس ببيع جزء من حصتها يأتي في إطار ممارسة أكتس لنشاطها الطبيعي كصندوق متخصص في الاستثمار المباشر.
وبنهاية جلسة تداول اليوم الموافق 31 مارس 2014 تمتلك أكتس حصة تبلغ 6.5% في البنك وكذلك ممثلاً في مجلس الإدارة .
