Is the relationship between MM & MA friendly or hostile? Okehurst1 thinks hostile. I think friendly….

Time will tell, but both options are equally viable given the existing business completed between the 2 parties in my opinion.

Okehurst1, if MA is hostile, why is Matt not increasing his holding?

Personally I think MA is friendly and is buying to make money, either due to the listing rule change or because he smells a deal of some kind. To me, he buys too camps; distressed and goes for the jugular or undervalued (for whatever reason) where he sees the catalysts for change on the horizon. I think we’re in the undervalued camp, but what do I know.

@AS1 do you think partial or total sale of a division?

Personally I think investors would prefer a buy back at this level, but I support them being cautious, at least until interest rates start to come down and momentum returns. The institutions I’m aware of, like Cape Wrath have held from circa 50p and expected a good return at that price, as they’re value investors I believe. WJ is over 7% of their portfolio I think, so I’m not sure they could add if they wanted to.

Exactly the type of opportunity they my spoke about on the call, on a brownfield site, which again supports their belief that government housing strategy will be beneficial.

Exciting times.

How can anyone be sure, they communicate so little.

Was hoping for a disposal or two by now, but nothing yet. Keeping my expectations low, so I’m not disappointed.

My shares are going in the bottom drawer with a medium to longer term view and I will add on any weakness.

Just hope the likes of Vistry don’t go on an acquisition spree and steal the future value from us. Feels like WJ would be an attractive acquisition for others. GLA.

Remember when MM was reported to have gifted 1,169,000 (£820k) shares to friends…..it still was reported.

I don’t think Matt will ever have enough shares, in any part of THG, but who knows.

I completely agree that now is the time to move, but I just don’t see the evidence. Very happy to be wrong at this point.

Agree on timing and feasibility Cong. I just don’t see anything indicating that this is what’s happening, unless MM is happy for MA to hold a large position….as he’s the only one buying it seems…. unless Matt is giving money to multiple mates to buy positions below declarable threshold….

Plausible. But if the rumour is true, why aren’t we seeing declarations of increased interest by now? Still don’t understand why MM is not rebuilding his position in RemainCo….

Ha ha, MM is an insolvency specialist too. If you listen the the Glassmoon podcast, it’s how/where he cut his teeth. Game in, if the scenario is as you describe. I’m not so sure.

Well we had the update last week and it was good.

I struggle to think why they would stage such an event if the mood music was not positive. Feels like they are doing their utmost to reinstate confidence and rectify the share price after the perceived clanger about finance, which has so far turned out to be a non event.

Still believe this is hugely underrated and undervalued. GLA.

For all those who want to believe that MM is under pressure and not getting his way, I would have thought you’d be delighted to read of such a reversal….

“THG Ingenuity is reducing its London-based workforce as it moves the company’s operations up to Manchester.

The ecommerce specialist, which separated from THG at the start of the year, has launched a consultation with 134 members of staff across its ecommerce, marketing and CS teams.

It is understood that the actual headcount reduction will be lower.

Ingenuity currently shares its London office at 107 Cheapside in the city’s Square Mile district with THG’s companies, including CityAM.

An Ingenuity spokesperson told Retail Gazette: “As a business, we are committed to continuously improving THG Ingenuity’s operational efficiency.

“Following a comprehensive review of our organisational structure since the demerger, we have identified several opportunities across the business to enhance our operational effectiveness, including centralising our ecommerce, marketing and customer success teams in Manchester.

“Subject to the ongoing consultation process, these changes will likely result in a small number of redundancies across the business.

“Whilst this is regrettable, Ingenuity is committed to supporting all colleagues affected by these changes and, where possible, will seek to offer affected colleagues an alternative role.”
