Lack of directors buys doesn’t always mean they don’t have conviction. There is a lot of consolidation going on in the food industry, mostly under the radar until revealed. I’m not saying they are in negotiations, I’m just saying that so much weight is put on whether Directors buy or not, that we should keep Director buys (and the rules around them) in perspective.

Treatt is a good business with assets and strong financials. Yes we’re in a cautious period, but their business is Summer/second half weighted and non-alcoholic drinks are on the rise. Their debt position, going into/through such market turbulence, should be heralded.

I’ve topped up.

With such a lowly valuation versus competitors, this is likely to be on their radars, especially with US production facilities and owned/modern facilities.

A fund reducing has presented an opportunity.

Agree yiab. I believe friendly too. Personally I also believe Ashley took his ingenuity allocation, if not more….

Can anyone provide proof that Frasers did not buy into Ingenuity? Or even as an existing investor (£10m) at raise, increase their Ingenuity holding with MM to more than their allocation?

Speculation of MA not accepting Matt taking the Ingenuity annual fees/money….is surely just that, speculation, as no one knows if Frasers have a stake in Ingenuity or not and therefore whether they will be sharing in said ‘spoils’…..

Probably. I expect yesterday/today was down to people locking in gains/losses prior to end of tax year, allowing 2 days to clear. Maybe more buyers next week.

I personally feel like he’s made it very clear that the entire group is his baby and he’s ready to take it back, so I think him going is very unlikely. Exec chair maybe.

I’m struggling with the scenarios…..

I still think that MA is friendly (most don’t agree I know) and that if Matt does take it private he will take MA, Balderton, Sofina and others close to him, with him. But at this point, his share position seems weakened, so what happens between now and December seems crucial…

My weekend wish Cong is that if MM is planning to take it back, he collaborates with the big boys sufficiently that he only has a relatively small amount to buy back when the time comes and then makes us a Mars/Hotel Chocolate type offer, significantly above the share price, so he can say he was considerate of the PIs 🤔

Oke, if they execute a buy back, increasing Matts share, or Matt buys more shares in the market over the next few months, then on your theory, would that mean that on December 4th, Matt would have to bid for the company? He would presumably be over 30% by then….

I haven’t totalled it. But it’s a list of largest holders so there’s other smaller holders not listed, like Kelso etc

So am I right in thinking you now don’t think MA is taking a 20-30% position, you now think Matt is going to increase his holding as much as possible, approve buy backs and then bid to take it private?

I remember Martin saying that a good chunk of the company is employee owned and the Stagwell bid was not credible, implying it wasn’t acceptable to them (or that’s how I interpreted it anyway). So, the valuation that would be acceptable to them is important here IMHO.

MM might have closed Kelso down (allegedly) but those with much greater holdings voted him to stay…..tut tut….

I think you’ll find he’s put all his wages, if not more into THG shares and is down like the rest of us…..

I’m not defending where we are, or the chairman’s role in it, but please try and keep to the truth….
