Carrington I don't think that you follow. I am seeing Brexit from the EU side. I hold an EU passport since 2014. I live and work in the EU. I saw Brexit for what it was. In the UK it was reported as an opportunity I could see from Europe that the UK were simply not taking the opportunity within Europe.

There was no way Europe would just let the UK leave without severe penalties because other nations would follow.

I have family in the UK and I know things are bad because they tell me so. Europe, especially Southern Europe is still booming. We don't have a property bubble. One can buy a 3 bed 3 bath house for €250k. The government performance is good, hospitals and services are excellent and tax is moderate. Wages are strong in most sectors.

I speak to a lot of Brits in my work. It's absolutely clear that Brexit has destroyed the UK. The fundamental freedom and ability to work with neighbours has gone. The UK problems of immigration are just UK problems now, no redistribution across Europe.

Freedom to travel is restricted. I know many Brits with holiday homes in Spain that they were going to retire to but now they can't. Who voted for that.....

Much like Brexit the voters aren't getting what they thought they voted for. In Brexit people thought that divorce meant a equitable separation. In trump2 they think that bullying doesn't change attitudes. Forcing someone to do something never buys compliance or loyalty.

On a personal and business level for me it means that I am careful where I shop for myself and my business. I think that many people will feel the same.

I disagree. Stability is the most important factor for investment. The USA are proving unreliable and unstable. Capital investments in trade to the US are hazardous at best.

The ftse following the dow has nothing to do with trade. The stock market has nothing to do with trade. The listing location is irrelevant. How many listed companies have listings in countries where it's not their primary market or indeed they do no business there at all.

The US is important because it's reliable and stable or it was. We are at the very start of trump2. It's already a circus with trump the clown who thinks he is the ringleader. If it becomes too difficult to trade in the US or impossible to build an investment case the world will just let the US drift whilst they look elsewhere for market.

Of course tariffs only hurt the US. Leave them in too long and they become ignored and isolated with new routes to new markets established.

The UK won't escape anything as realistically they produce nothing to export. The UK are consumers of goods from countries that may be subject to sanctions and tariffs so whatever they consume becomes more expensive.

Ultimately the US will lose it's importance on the world stage and like a drunk uncle at a wedding people will just avoid them.

If you breakdown hedging over the long term it's very poor value. The only time in the last 5 years it's paid was at the start of the Russian attempted invasion of the Ukraine. Unfortunately that was also a very low activity time.

However as all airlines hedge it's hardly a factor. It would be much more interesting if they simply used the spot. It would in most cases immediately save money.

The position for the current period will always be around 85%. The position is built over time and those lower figures will be added to.

The hedged proportion is per period based on the projected requirements. Typically 85% maybe hedged and the remainder purchased at spot. The A1 price varies from field to field but currently it's $675.5 per MT.

In this first six months the average hedged price is $807.

In the recent update the spot was given as $795 on 20/01/25. I can't see where that came from, the prices are published every day.

Of course there's manipulation but we can only see a small part of what goes on. This is a gambling platform and is unrelated to easyJet. The share price is as oblivious to the commercial position of the business as trump is of global reality. Both are absurd and irrational.
