RE: Manufactured14 Oct 2020 09:50
I think MFM and a few others maybe in a dilemma: They are over committed to this stock and therefore everyday that passes without THE RNS ratchets up the fear that if this does fail then they may lose quite a lot of money (at least in the short term)
The dilemma arises because if you kept the investment in AVCT at the individuals comfort zone, lets say £5k and it increases 10 times, £50k profit is wonderful but not life changing. If you put in everything, say £100k and it 10 bags then perhaps that is life changing. And its not often that a stock like this if ever, hoves into view with such potential. So you over commit. To be fair, the anxiety levels were exacerbated by AS when he gave, albeit I am sure with no deliberate intent, terribly inaccurate forecasts of developments. What was meant to be a few weeks has run into many months with little concrete progress to show for the time. At first you can believe that every day that passes is one day nearer to the news dropping but another analogy might be that you are running for a train and every day gets you closer to the station, however if the train pulls away before you get there then you never do catch it. So, every day that passes gives the worry that somebody else or thing will beat us to the punch: vaccine, another test, virus goes away, we just live with it, whatever.
The answer of course is not to over commit but the vision of such potential gains makes you over commit...the dilemma...
So, what to do? either sell down to a holding where you can relax with it or I'm afraid you just have to understand that it was your (the individuals) decision to over commit and come to terms with the anxiety. As in all things in life its always black and white, (I know in fact its shades of grey but ultimately one shade will be darker than the other so it becomes black and white again)
So I recognise the frustration and that some need to let off steam here, sometimes to the annoyance of others but its understandable given the situation they may have put themselves in.
Tough love: sell down or shut up is a particularly brutal way of putting it, but ultimately that is the choice, its just that some, through fear and greed, are looking for a third route which I fear does not exist.
