I think we should all realise that PI's are not worth Jack to any company. We buy and sell as we see fit at any given time and it makes no diff the the actual company in question. They get none of the proceeds, so why should they care?

If we are all selling and it materially forces the SP down then thats because of bad/poor news. That would be down to the company not the PI's.

II's are taken more seriously because they hold much more stock and can influence director re-elections and ultimate recommendations to the private sector and such like, and of course are to be tapped up for future funding (if necessary).

I keep banging this drum but I think its important. PI's know jack about the company. They are not kept informed and only get updates after the event. "Research" is a pointless waste of time, other than in the broadest of terms.

This stock is in fact a great example. Look at the detailed posts on the science and dot joining both through the years of the LFT development and now the years of jus this early part of the trial.

Nothing has come to pass that these investors and detailed researchers here posted about. not one, single thing.

I have been more accurate in broad terms here only because I have used my experience in buying and selling to see the themes that seem to be universal in all listed companies being replicated here.

Common sense (which is another word for experience), is the best thing to develop to give you a fighting chance.

I am not "loyal" to any share certificate I own. Perhaps that's the trouble for some here.

I sold down my 40k stock holding to 10k.

You said I had sold out I replied I never had sold out. I have and still keep a holding in this company.

I did expect a raise but I thought it would be higher, more around 70-80p.

Again when and if I am confident that the risk reward improves I will buy more.

At the moment I think there are other stocks that offer a better short term return than leaving money in AVCT.

(Most of my selling occurred between 110p and 90p)

Well, certainly the daily close above 12p is encoraging.

Obviously been some false dawns but if you ignore the news then the straight line gain todays gives a lot of support to accepting that this is a genuine break out and breaks the down trend.

It looks like 13.5p will come under pressure this week if not tomorrow with potentially a retrace back to 12p to let the stragglers get on board.

The problem might be Rory that it was just simply that the SP was allowed to run ahead of itself.

Clearly the value of the company was seen to be too high for II's to invest in against the results thus far of the trial.

As I said before this isn't a charity gig. They also want the biggest profit they can make and AVCt needed their money more than they need AVCT.

It looks to me things definitely happened behind the scenes that PI's were not informed about.

I still think (more than ever with hindsight), that the "unexpected surprise" of more dosing after Cohort 4 scuppered the cash runway. Why it was a surprise I don't know. Was it the results? I guess it has to be, what else could it be?

In any event that was when AS would have know that another cash injection would be needed and likely before the end of the trial.

Thats why I think there was in fact a frantic change of course to say at the end of 2023, it would all be done and he doubled down on the rhetoric to try and get more cash for less dilution but the II's were not having it.

As has been undone by his own over hyping and also lack of coms of the past. The II's, I don't think, believe him on what he says the platform can do yet. They see the same data and can see there is an excellent chance of success but hold all the cards and have absolutely screwed him to max their potential profit.

We will never likely know but if this level holds then the next bit of SP moving good news should start the long road to a more stable upward trend.

Its unlikely imo that AS will be part of the team when that hopefully starts.

NYSize, give this stupid narrative up would you? Its not posters that have "destroyed" the SP but AVCT's management of their own pipeline and products.

As a result if you had listened to me you would have kept money dry and ready for this raise that in the end, everyone saw coming. So the PI's that have contributed can actually say, hand on heart, that they are doing their bit to try and progress Cancer care, which is more than you can ever say.

You have given little of nothing directly to AVCT. You are just a parasite hoping to profit on the back of their expertise and hardwork, just like the rest of us.

It is running at a loss 18 months since bought. It is forecast to go from £24m TO to £26m so less than 10% growth, and a projected breakeven late this year. (I am not reassured by AVCT's future forecasts, so its not a given it will be in profit next year and even if it is it would seem to be a small amount based on the expected increase in TO, Maybe a mill or less.

Putting your hands over your ears and going "La La La, Can't hear you" is not the soundest investment strategy.

If nothing else it is further evidence of a company less likely to go bust. Which means there is a disconnect between the SP and the co. Top up time (imo dyor)

I agree Oz, this is a dark time for AVCT shareholders as we seem to have gone backwards, but the money is in and the II's have stumped up so its a keep and forget for a while and as always keep your fingers crossed.

Trouble is PL, he has shown his disregard for PI's over a long period. I mentioned it way back during the LFT saga when he expressed his disgust with emails left abusing the staff. He was very upset about this.

I wondered then if it coloured his thinking. But in any event its the II's that fund this type of business not PI's.

He has to dance to their tune.

Oz, I am not sure about your first conclusion. It could be that the PI's had not got the cash on hand to take part having averaged down on the falls previously.

However even I with the cash put by for exactly this scenario had second thoughts at this stage after the latest update, of putting money in so may be a mixture of both?

I always work from the absolute certainty that I don't know whats going to happen, in any stock I buy.

We all have different criteria but these are some yardsticks that I have found useful indicators on the way.

In no order of any kind:

Read RNS's carefully and disregard any forecast into the future. They are not liable for failure and will always be optimistic (anywhere between wildly and very, very) but never cautiously), as opposed to realistic. Any unexpected not- so-good news multiply by a factor of whatever experience has shown you in the past as the most likely outcome.

You should have had some idea of a return on the amount invested and by when. It does not have to be exact and can be within a range and it should be based on something more robust than wishful thinking.

Then if it does not happen you should ask yourself why? Was it you misreading the market and being overly optimistic or did the company under perform. If you think it was the company go back and re-read the RNS's. Did they let you down or did you let your positive bias blind you to what was actually written down.

If you still think you drew the correct conclusion based on what you knew at the time it suggests you were misled. Has the company a track record of doing that or is this just bad luck for the company (and you).

Its easy when the SP is appreciating, to have a plan to ride the waves and make good money. The hard bit is to know when to sell and crystalise the gain. Its harder still if the SP falls, to crystalise a loss.

Most long termers know that capital preservation is very, very important.

You never want to be in a position when you say to yourself. "The SP is so low now its not worth selling."

(We've all been there but it should only ever happen once.)

If you keep losing money on the majority of your stock picks then clearly something is amiss. Its common to go from one high risk stock that disappoints straight to another to try and recoup the losses.

And think about if these BB's actually have helped you? Could you have got the info elsewhere? Is it an aid or does the echo chamber element cloud objective assessment?

It may well be over subscribed but then what.... does everyone sell to make a quick buck or have the confidence to hang on for 40 days waiting for the coms blackout to be lifted?

I have no idea by the way, but to me its seems a bit of a gamble. So really I should be led by people like Timster who don't gamble but do make educated guesses based on their research....

Because basically you have to trust AVCT and what they say......

Anyway, each to his own. (its only money after all and as long as you can comfortably afford to lose it, who cares)
