The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
Perhaps SNG will get a higher profile now Carrie is in charge... ;-)
As far as the Pfizer vaccine is concerned it may prove popular in Europe where the countries are relatively small and can also work together to distribute it, but where the land masses are much larger it'll prove more difficult. You also have the general secrecy of Russia and China who don't like to publish or share data on the vaccines they are developing - who knows how effective theirs will be. Combined with the anti-vaxxers and other concerned groups in the US along with the spread of their population I think all the vaccines will struggle to get the coverage that is needed in some countries.
Agree zebbo - the BBC interviewed some people on the street last week and most were uneasy about the speed of development. Think this will be a bigger issue than many people think - no point Bojo calling people nutters when they have genuine concerns...
I echo the good wishes frenchcafe and hope that all come through this terrible virus. I also totally agree with what PhilGekko has said - an initial interest for purely financial reasons has turned into much more than that.
You may have notice how posts from 'derampers' or those that seek to wind us up are given short shrift and put very firmly put in their box. This is mainly as a result of the frustration we all feel that SNG has had to wait this long for any kind of official support - even after the Recovery trial only found one product of any use after testing many for over 6 months.
I believe that this treatment will be gold standard and quickly become the go to for clinicians for treating Covid. It might, just might also persuade people who catch it to come forward sooner and thereby improve their chances of beating it. Win-win.
My god. John Bell managed to get a quote in again!! Is there no-one else dealing with Covid tests in the UK???
Good post K-mac. I was watching a piece last night (could have been BBC) where one of the scientists highlighted that only 1 treatment has been discovered from the Recovery trial - dex. Yes, in over 6 months of research/study only 1 effective treatment has been found!!
So this part of the Lancet article particularly caught my attention:
Despite the large number of clinical trials underway for the treatment of COVID-19, few antiviral drugs against SARS-CoV-2 have been identified. The findings of the present study are promising in this regard. They should be promptly evaluated in large randomised clinical trials, including academically led trials.
Surely we're going to see a good deal of positive reaction from the scientists over there? Probably more than has been received here...hopefully..
Can't see that any newspaper websites other than the Daily Mail have picked up on the story. It's all still vaccine this and vaccine that...
Looks like antibody test could have a challenger soon:

Holders here appear to be in a very good place!
Test_test - I've jumped into both. Both give good exposure to holiday/travel and RR also has other businesses such as military so won't go under. Plus there are stories today that the Govt is going to ban takeovers that might affect national security so RR will be pretty protected..
I keep saying it, that John Bell is going to remove all credibility from the scientists that are working with the Govt. So he's worried about food residue in Saliva, won't a swab also pick up any bits that are still in there? Besides as you have all said, if it's the difference between being able to go and do something you want to do or not, you can always take the test before eating...
The more I hear from this guy the more I think he's been sniffing the chemicals too deeply...
CR1909 - agree with you but remember the other vaccines will potentially be rolled out towards the end of next year in any real numbers, so our price should recover as SNG gets its treatment out :-)
I also am still here and no sales. The correction was mainly as a result of the Govt and its scientific associates getting carried away on virtually no information.....and don't get me started on that eejut Professor John Bell....
I still believe this will be the treatment of choice for a year or more. Remember Jonathan Van Tam said something sensible in the Tuesday briefing "the vaccine will have little or no effect on the current second wave but may reduce the size/impact of any 3rd wave". And if the rumours that the Chancellor is going to do another 'eat out to help out' scheme to stimulate spending prior to Christmas it is possible it will result in another increase in cases..
Totally agree wyndrum. He's fast turning into a liability because he can't keep him mouth shut or resist giving a quote. Gonna look an idiot if the Pfizer vaccine is not as good as the interim figures suggest..

He hasn't said so..
I imagine so as little is know about the vaccine profiles. In any event a substantial number of the UK population won't be immunized until the end of next year. Plenty of people will wait to see if there are any unknown side effects given the rush there has been to get them developed...
Not sure they'll be buying ODX:

Nice find dafad. This needs to be highlighted instead the the euphoria that is currently in the press and on tv. Many questions to be answered still - and the popularity of vaccines will be determined by those answers...
John Bell has far too much to say at the moment compared to other Sage members....
GeneGenie - I'd like to thank you for starting this thread outlining your concerns and no doubt those of other people who bought into this stock as a Covid play. The reason for my thanks is that some of the replies have given me a slap in the face and reminded me why I invested here in the first place - the potential to transform cancer treatment not Covid. Now is the time to bring my average down a little more, not loose faith. Cheers!
