NPM1970, many thanks for your reply stating what IOG replied to you. My main concern yesterday was lack of info regarding Southwark following analysis of new seabed data having said that analysis would complete end of RNS week (28th Jan). Great to hear that first gas dates still on course though.

Decent idea Peakview, but they can't do that really if Southwark has hit the buffers and facing serious delay and unknown consequential cost increases....?!

GGIS, I agree re. 14th and 21st for gas updates, but lack of Southwark update concerns as clearly the new seabed data must only have shown issues and a more difficult resolution required than that stated in last RNS, so get that told now rather than announce around 21st too which would affect positive impact of first gas I feel. Just a simple one to explain that alternative resolution needed would at least show open communication and give time to absorb any impact before first gas announcement.

Despite stating in RNS of 25 Jan that regular newsflow would keep us updated of developments regarding back-gassing, first production and timeline for Southwark after analysing new seabed data, we still have no further update on any of these points which is disappointing and increasingly concerning with each day of silence that passes. Why state that regular newsflow would come but then not do it? Do they really not understand how damaging that is and how it undermines trust? Sincerely hoping they're not trying to mix good and bad news in one announcement in vain hope of limiting impact as that never works.

Just read mining article from 2018 stating, "The Mina do Barroso lithium project occupies the entire C100 Mining Lease", so I fail to see anything other than this claim being thrown out immediately if the lithium project makes up 100% of the lease so can't possibly have been "added" like this legal case claims?!!

ChameleonMan- RNS clearly states its about events way back in 2016, not recent things. Reads as though they claim that the boundaries were changed to enlarge the granted area and lithium rights not in the grant but added afterwards without sanction. But how this could have happened in reality and not been challenged until now is beyond belief.

GGIS: it was the line, "Although it is very frustrating that it has been slower than planned, we are making every effort with the terminal operator Perenco to facilitate the fastest possible resolution." that filled me with dread, as I wondered what the issue was that needs "resolution"? I'm hoping it's just badly worded and referring to the slow progress of completing procedures and process, rather than letting slip that there is a problem that needs to be resolved !!?

DormanLongNY: why is the EIA looking more and more a certainty now? What has progressed for you to say that? EIA is just the next hurdle that needs clearing to continue in the race towards the finishing line. We might be coming round the final bend with only a few more hurdles to clear if EIA is approved but I am hesitant myself to count any chickens as I've been burnt too many times before with shares held in companies in similar positions, only to find a huge ditch behind one of the final hurdles.

Osama: can you provide links to info/articles showing that each of the main parties have stated they are pro-lithium ? And if so, are they post the public consultation period?

Well if Portuguese polls are anything like as accurate as UK or US ones in recent years then the ruling Socialists should win by a proverbial landslide !

It seems that PSD are now ahead in polls and comments below from their deputy do not make encouraging reading for us SAV holders....

"PSD deputy Luís Leite Ramos defended that “it is not worth everything in the fight against climate change”, considering that, “to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions” one cannot “devastate protected areas” and “sacrifice the health and quality of life for populations living close to mineral deposits”.

Leite Ramos accused the Government of acting "as a promoter of mining projects, touting the merits of the ecological transition and the wonders of lithium", without, however, "assuming in a clear and transparent way the defense of the environment”.

"Therefore, the minister cannot be surprised at the loss of confidence that mining causes among mayors and local communities: it was his Government who turned the word 'lithium' into a swearword, due to the opacity in the licensing processes, the web of interests and negotiations that grew around them, due to the Government's deafness to the appeals and complaints of the populations in the defense of their territories and their lives”, he said.

Yes it baffled me why they would link up with a party with such a small support as don't see the benefit, unless they just want to be seen as environmentally friendly just to gain the votes to see them over the line. Who knows....will be done by Monday and then hopefully a SAV beneficial EIA decision can follow not too long after.

The gap in polls has narrowed down to just 5% after the socialists had a 13% lead previously. Concerned also to see Reuter report that Costa is considering teaming up with PAN party who are an animal rights party into nature....surely that would result in direct pressure on him to halt mining and potentially scupper the EIA approval ?! Would not a good move for SAV surely...so fingers and toes crossed they can get over the line without needing to team up with anyone. Never thought I'd follow Portuguese politics !

Ouch, bad day all round and praying no bad news now from IOG or risk of a slaughter in this market.
