I was under the impression that you still had to pay the withholding tax but it’s at a lower rate than a US citizen would pay. I get dividends from Apple and they come through net of tax.

Good time to buy at the moment exchange rate wise. I’m with HSBC and pay $30 per transaction and there’s a levy of around 0.5% when you sell that goes to the SEC.

HKK - there’s a 30 day bed and breakfasting rule for CGT so it’s not quite that simple I’m afraid.

I wasn’t making a point ... My comments related to the general chit chat on trading.

I’ve found the easiest way to do it is to buy in small tranches (have a variety of positions) and then rather than day trade on the highs sell the most profitable positions and re-buy in the dips. So you have a variety of options and always have some skin in the game if there is news and a big uptick.

I’ve been doing it quite successfully recently using CFS on ARB, BP and Boohoo. I’ve studies around 20 shares movements closely. After he new ISA year o]is sorted I’m going to build up a larger trading pot.

I’m still around 10% down but heading in the right direction.

Hopefully something brewing.

Hi Peak - I think it fits the model in broad terms. Like you say it’s the location that is different but the principle the same. It’s an extension of theme. It would be interesting to know how due diligence is carried out when goods are ‘in transit’ especially when there is likely to be serious mileage between the two destinations.

That’s the second time on a week that Zak appears to be cynical. I think he echoed my current thoughts when he talked and the communications and in particular the over promising and under delivering. Also the guy who was explaining the model was talking about capitalising the tyres. It’s been turned into cold hard cash.

Hi Danny. I know it doesn’t. I think the way I’ve worded it wasn’t great. If they do come back the holding will be 30% + 18%.

Although I believe they can be returned in cash and whatever the loan arrangement is it doesn’t seem to meet the definition of shares under related party control. So the 30% sticks until such an event occurs with the loaned shares that proves otherwise. Plus if you look at the share register where are they?

The key here is to look at the group cash flow statement which shows that the underlying business generated £225m net cash against £52m in 2019.
