Just to add that the fiscal tax year of apr to mar has no significance for limited companies other than for payroll purposes. Companies pay corp tax based on their accounting period (now Jan to Dec for SYME) rather then apr to mar which is for government and income tax through self assessment and paye.

In my experience people who like online shopping stick with it. So as long as we are attracting plenty of new customers and servicing them well we should have high retention.

I think there’s a general consensus in the US that a lot of retail investors are pulling out of the market now that some of the favourites have taken a hammering of late and the economy is re-opening, other things to spend cash on, etc.

Not as much stimulus money is going into the market as expected.

My best guess is that there is additional overhead in there to support the extra sale. I don’t expect the COS to correlate directly to sales in a services company. From the parts of the annual report I have read a lot of these sales have included a lot of testing and analysis while the concept is being proved.

It’s hard to glean anything with such a disparity in sales between the two periods and little information on what is included in the COS.

When Tesla sells a car it’s a new sale.

When The others sell an EV it’s at the opportunity cost of one of their ICE vehicles.

R111 I was about to post something similar. It’s hard to comment on the required break even level because we don’t know what’s in the cost of sales in terms of fixed and variable costs.

I would expect the GP% to ramp up significantly once sales start doing so. The problem with tech service industries like this is that the bottom line always look bleak because so little costs are capitalised. Everything goes straight to p&l.

If a manufacturer had invested £15m they’d probably be writing it off over ten years.

If you look at the net current assets position and the burn rate providing we have a ramp up in income in the second half of the year like they are suggesting I think a placing seems unlikely.
