I think this rise is all about the massive consolidation in the online gambling industry. Between us taking over William Hill and Draftkings taking over Entain we not have two large players who should dominate the industry.

Draftkings have come out of nowhere via a spac last year. Unreal what is happening at the moment.

I’ve consolidated my portfolio these last couple of weeks and removed some high risk in terms of AIM stocks where we are waiting for a medium term/long term outcome. So I’m currently holding here SNG and BIDS and have come out of CBX and HE1 for the time being.

Using proceeds to bulk out more established long term positions, topped up on the recent dips and started new positions on two shares that have taken big hits but should recover well.

Quick question for you oil experts, which I’ll hold by hands up and admit I am not. With such a high chance of success does this reduce the bag-ability? I’ve always seen that the reward is in the risk which appears largely reduced from here so surely under basic economic principles the risk reward potential is reduced?

Hi Eileen - I work in finance and order company cars for the qualifying employees on my payroll. Mostly higher up IT staff and top ranking salesmen.

This was the first car list post covid and after all the diesel tax issues so have added many PHEV and EV options which due to the favourable benefit in kind treatment have been largely taken up by the drivers.

Even at the lower levels we’ve got models like the Audi A3 sportback PHEV and Hyundai Kona EV.

Some of the other feedback we’ve had is that Tesla dominate the charge points as well in most service stations. So non-Tesla charging can involve queuing quite often including the time required to top up. I’m sure this will be sorted soon as the infrastructure improves and I think Elon is licensing the points out to other manufacturers.

On coinbase you can buy Tezos and receive 5% staking fee. It’s 18% down today as well.

I work with quite a large fleet (1,500 vehicles) and Tesla are like the Apple of EVs. Drivers who are interested in EVs and qualify at the level want a Tesla. I’d estimate very rough and ready that Tesla are accounting for one out of every three orders including ice cars.

The only car that comes near as popular is the X3 PHEV in the £45k range.

The key is not taking one data set in isolation.

You can tell you’ve been rattled this week by the poor numbers and forward outlook over at ABF as you have stepped up your decamping campaign a notch. I’ve got no problems with a bear case, it makes perfect sense to be fully researched on both the upside and the downside. But your basic thesis that online is doomed and bricks and mortar is the future because rents are now cheaper doesn’t strike a chord with reality and makes it hard to take seriously as an investor.

You’d be much better over on the ABF board with your like minded folk because let’s be honest, no one want you here.

Kallu - if you ‘go back to the source’ I believe if you read the ABF press release from Monday they explain the last three months Primark sales had a large element of pent-up demand, as in a one-off shot.

So yes some consumers who don’t like shopping online or can only afford to shop at primark couldn’t wait for the stores to open. I would out to out that they are in the minority.

Plus it’s awfully ironic of you mocking posters here for posting up sources from news sites off the internet, I believe you are the king of such activity. Or even worst re-posting Twitter posts from your moniker ‘ABFInvestor’, usually backed up by a link to such news sources, as evidence,. You couldn’t make it up.

I read the Robinhood piece yesterday about them being able to participate in the IPO and I’ve got to say I’m sceptical because I thought their whole model evolved around payment for order flow. Which is basically from what I understand selling the buy and sell orders to a small group of markets makers and getting battered on the spread but this is marketed to them as ‘commission free’ trading.

So how this translates to participating in an IPO first subscription is unclear to me. I would say it’s at odds with their model. I’ll caveat that with I don’t have a particular deep understanding of how these schemes work at a technical level.

Think about it rationally … if most of the shares were under lock up then the IPO wouldn’t work as there would be no market with plenty of buyers but no willing or constrained sellers.

I think the main thing to remember is that subsequent SP following the IPO can be extremely volatile to the upside and downside.

To give you an example I’ve recently bought Weber shares for $16 not in the IPO itself but on the first day of trading. This have been as high as $20+ and I’ve managed to pick some up this week as low as $14 before moving back up to around the IPO price.

So in summary this could rocket but just as easily drop right back, no one knows.

Either way it’s been a great week and Argo is now one of my largest UK holdings. I even topped up on the way up which I don’t usually do.

All covid related winners are having a hard time at the moment - Ocado, Boohoo, ASOS, etc.

The problem with all the ESG initiatives as they are completely tokenistic, the flavour of the month, but without them you can wave goodbye to large scale institution holdings.

Plus for the next generation of “woke/snowflake” investors coming through they really care about all this stuff.

I’ve bought my fists tranche rather impatiently so am now waiting for the bottom.

I’d say BOO so has been depressed due to all the negative publicity since June 2020. It’s not had as far to fall.

The loan doesn’t have to be repaid …. It can be refinanced with the same or a different lender. Just like we did with the first tranche and like most other companies in the land do. Hopefully on more favourable terms each time we become more established.

The Chinese government aren’t liking their own big tech companies too much either at the moment.
