Hi Hexham - have you ever read any discussion papers around the accounting and valuation of digital assets? Fascinating stuff if you have have an accounting/finance background?

Is poses a quandary for current convention as they don’t quite sit into any of the current conventions completely comfortably.

I took it to mean we were taking some risk off the table with regards to the price being high and future volatility.

I’ve had a look and some of the risky stock have had their margin requirements dropped back down.

It could just as easily be a story about a granny diving a telephone fraudster her HSBC internet login details, the bitcoin bit is completely irrelevant.

He’d surely just be fixing his position though at the current price. So if we did suddenly get some upside momentum out of the blue the short could be closed (or a stop loss set) rather than be out of the market completely.

I considered doing something similar on SYME last NYE when big news was expected and wish I did in the end.

IG removed HE1 from being traded on leverage when all the GameStop stuff was going on. They took loads of risky stocks off CFD.

I think it does vampires over as well.

Jab - utter nonsense. List of short positions are posted weekly in places like the investors chronicle.

They are always large caps. There’s even a button on the LSE pages ‘short positions’. Guess what happens if you click on it ‘ There are currently no open short positions in Bidstack Group’.

They may well be sell bets on CFDs or Spreadbets but these do not involve taking an underlying position in the actual shares. And therefore have no underlying affect of the MMS/SP, re your naked short point.

So I put it to you my friend that you along with literally hundreds of uninformed LSE posters are talking rubbish.

This shorting nonsense is the same on every board. Very few small caps have large institutional shorting, on the AIM it’s the large companies like Boohoo or ASOS. There is a legion of retail investors who have seen what’s gone on over in the US with Wall Street Bets and GameStop (a large company which large hedge funds with large short positions) and decided it’s happening wholesale across the micro caps. It’s absolute muppetry.

I’d be surprised if the average LSE poster actually understands how shorts work.

Just to be clear I’m not whinging about the principle of the Q&As, they’re great. It’s some of the idiotic questions from investors when something more fundamentally useful could be asked.

I think we should be selling some every month regardless of the price.

The hodl is all well and good but any returns to us will be in fiat, so it makes sense to hedge it in the balance sheet.

Granted that’s with a practical hat on and not giving any relevance to the wider crypto aims/world.

Questions should be about the business …. How gbp will be spent …. Pluto update, etc, etc.

They’ve got to revamp these Q&As they are getting more and more pathetic. We’ve got the chance to question a FTSE CEO…… “what football team do you support?”.

How is this share supposed to be taken seriously?

The smart money is on selling regularly and strengthening the balance sheet, maybe even buying on dips.

Thing what a stronger position we would be in now if we had sold regularly on the way up to $60k.

We could have then bought in the $30k’s.

Putting all your eggs in one basket is rarely ever a good idea.
