Next ITV results are November 7th? Q3? I think that will be the turning point. No confidence ever again in the current board and shorters moving in fast.

There is an ex divi date on the 17th October. So October 17 to November 7th I would if I was a holder (currently nothing) I would be looking to get out and avoid the impending disaster.

The whole industry are talking like companies are going to wipe out.

Edinburgh tv festival looks to have all the big players. Netflix, BBC, Fremantle. Shock horror, McCall is topping up her tan in the Caribbean and billing ITV 60k per week to do so.

Value for money.

Somehow I prefer pasty skinned Lygo who spends every summer in Edinburgh to that waste of space McCall who only appears for the AGM and results presentations.

You guys are getting slack. Winnie's daily corporate spin that seeks to present ITV in a positive light. Robs talking about traders being away from their desks which is 30 years out of date (we have all been connected for so many years now even in August).

I take a quick look around and find so much debate on ITV coming from people at the very top of the organisation.

You would hope that McCall would be there boosting ITV's presence and making deals. No news from here sadly....

You think the Dame will burn through another 250million in money from selling off studios to artifically inflate the share price? Increase the EPS and share price so that she can keep her job whilst doing nothing to address the problem of falling audiences and crashing advertising revenues?

I prefer to look long term. The buybacks are increasing. Closer to 1% a day now. Continue buying back like that and in the 17 weeks before the end of the year , the buyback pot will burn through another 80-100million.

Then you are back to a situation where the buybacks are almost spent and no real changes have happened to the business since the share price was last at 56p. If anything more viewers have left and more shows and big named stars will have been axed.

Ask yourself where will ITV SP be on January 2nd 2025. Is it worth the interim dividend to hold or to gamble that the Dame does not opt for more buybacks. Sub 60p buy in only for the Dame to then depart and SP to rise back to £1 would be the best scenario that I can see.

That was not true last year Jed. I bought back in for the interim dividend at around 70p in late Sept to Oct and it then crashed to 56p. Only the announcement of buybacks enabled me to get my original investment back.

August is one of the worst months. September and October are historically when the crashes happen, but I seem to remember panic selling in August in years gone by. People get complacent, Right now they look to have calculated that war will be avoided with Iran but nobody can second guess the Iranian revolutionary Guard. An attack could happen at any moment.

I am still holding on to BP and Shell despite the downward movement in oil today. I think the west and Israel have decided that a decisive reckoning is needed with the Ayatollahs after years, if not decades of clandestine warfare. Oil supply will be drastically reduced if the Persian Gulf is shut and a global recession will be triggered.

Never underestimate the Iranians for sheer acts of stupidity. They gave the green light for October 7. The FBI seem to be finding evidence that they have had agents in the US trying to pay for possible political assassinations. Gaza ceasefire will amount to nothing as neither Hamas or Israel will meet the other sides demands.

So in short the chances of all out war with Iran is still on the cards. Expect the US, Israel and possibly other allies to go other Nuclear sites first and then to take out the oil infrastructure which has been funding the Iranian revolutionary guard and the proxy wars in Yemen, Syria and Iraq.

If the Persian Gulf is shut down then that is 34% of the worlds oil taken out of the supply chain. Hugely damaging for the world economy but the Ayatollah's are driven by religious dogma.

Robs that is a compelling argument. Younger audiences are switching off. If anything that matters more to ITV. The beeb will always have a lump sum from tax payers it might just have to be obtained through different taxes.

ITV has ever falling revenues from advertising. The next quarterly results are going to mark the biggest year on year fall because of the lack of one off events whilst the Beeb has hosted the Olympics and PL football. Free to Air is almost dead. I get daily adverts on youtube for TUBI and those broadcasters without the shackles of PSB are going to be able to maximise profit and revenue where ITV cannot.

Dame has to go. New direction for ITV as online platform and studio only. Ditch the Free to Air. Time for ITV to make billions by dropping the old legacy stuff.

Exactly Jed. ITV is about studios. So why is the Dame and the Board still squandering money on Free to Air? Who in Gods name signed off on 850k for Louis Walsh and 1mill for Farage only to edit him?

Buybacks are doing nothing for the small shareholders. Once the 250 million is spent the share price will fall back to 60p. It just increases EPS and holds off the shorters for now. It enables the Dame and her EZJ cronies to cream off millions more and pay tired old has been boyband managers extortionate fees in the hope they all get invited to "judges houses" once they are in retirement.

Stop the rot. Stop the unmerited payouts to media bumchums. I notice Huw Edwards has been asked to pay back earnings to the BBC. Schofield ....ITV are too busy buying the runners silence.

So a comparison of ITV now with ITV 20 years ago. In 1999 ITV could outbid SKY for sports. Now it cannot even compete with the taxpayer.

The Champions League would bring in audiences of 20 million (when you included pubs) every year. The 1999 Bayern vs Manure final had 19 million tune in.

Imagine the revenue that was all generating back in the day...... Now nobody wants to pay for advertising and ITV cannot even get close to a bid that UEFA would accept even for the highlights show. By default the BBC picks it up.

Goes to show you how dire Broadcasting is in the UK. No money left in it, but McCall signs off on paying sad old git Louis Walsh 850,000 for Celebrity Big Blunder.

Axe the Board. New faces. Champions League behind a paywall. Get revenue up on the current poor performance.

Try comparing ITV output to the BBC. BBC sports, drama and news blow ITV out of the water. No chance of competing with such a world class broadcaster as the Beeb.

Time ITV threw in the towel on Free to Air. It cannot match the quality of the BBC. Glastonbury, Wimbledon, Olympics, Match of the Day and now European football.

ITV can only offer Bond films from 60 years ago and Potter films from 20 years ago. How are you fan girls to blind to its demise?

McCall is on a summer long TUI all inclusive along with the Board of Directors, Ant and Dec and Phil and Holly.

Instead of offering cash, TUI offered to put up all the workshy Board and their extended families for the whole summer in a 5* spa resort in the Caribbean. That is how desperate ITV are to fill the wide spaces on the ad breaks. Of course with media luvvies at the bar you can never leave your drink unattended

I thought about buying NEXT shares once. So I went to a store and looked around. The quality was poor and the clothes and furniture were dated and not of the same standard as competitors. I resolved never to buy Next.

Same thing is happening for me with ITV. They cannot bid for the Champions League as it would be loss making, despite possibly having the potential of 10 million audiences for finals or the bigger games with English clubs.

They are running out of advertisers who want to place marketing on their platform. Investing in startups and word search placements during breaks are signs of a very depressed advertising market.

On top of that you have a CEO who is failing to react to a changing media world. She splashing out on UK centric productions and live shows that nobody watches. £1million for Farage only to edit him . Celebrity Big brother reboot.

You people must be blind. The audiences are switching off. The output is getting worse year on year. The CEO needed to put this behind pay walls and switch more to investment in studios in 2018.

There is a potential for huge losses for small investors here. Change of CEO and Board and it might be turned into profitable studios business in the same way that Thames TV transformed to Studios that sell ITV and BBC content (BGT and the Apprentice).

The glory days of ITV are over. 5th biggest broadcaster in UK and sinking slowly down the table.

Oh and the European super cup on the BBC last night. Only highlights but it marks a huge shift. ITV used to have the highlights. They even once upon a time had live Champions League games.

Another clear indication that ITV business model no longer works when ITV cannot even make money from the top Club Football tournament in the world and it is left to the BBC to put in a low bid for the rights.

Time to switch to Tubi unless of course you enjoy Bond and Harry Potter films on endless repeat.

I am back for a few days and have my son over before we go off travelling. His mates in Uk are all getting A level results today (he got his baccs over a month ago). Anyway we were watching ITV and during the Ad break I noticed they have put up a word search puzzle for 1 minute. Cash rpize and it costs £3 to phone. Desperate times when ITV can no longer fill their advertising slots and are moving to gambling slots.

Next results are going to be catastrophic as the comparison with last year and the Rugby WC is going to make it look like ITV is losing market share faster than it really is.

Also interesting to see that now the government and police are prosecuting people for online hate, that the anti semite pogo who posts hate speech has gone quiet. Coward who ran away from his country when it called him to serve.
