Exactly. They use water in oil technology, no surfactant additives involved. The fuel is emulsified and must used a very short time thereafter. So each user requires the equipment on board or at site, there’s no bulk storage like msar or HFO and importantly, it emulsifies HFO whereas MSAR emulsifies the cheaper refinery residue which is why msar is so competitive against existing HFO bunkers.

It should also perform well and have decent environmental outcomes too.

It’s very helpful to Quadrise that emulsion fuels are being used more widely, and helps build confidence in their general use at sea and elsewhere.

They aren’t really a direct competitor as they are water in oil. So far, we are the only platform that can offer a proven oil in water emulsion which allows for a drop in solution for shipping using existing bunkering facilities and only minor adjustments on ships etc.

The answer to this question is a clear no from what Jason has said. Biomsar only from Mac2 in Belgium, but if plans work out in the Med then it would likely initially be MSAR supply to OCP and MSC (others too perhaps?) then eventually Biomsar assuming the LONO goes to plan.

Yes it’s a case of reinstalling the MMU but they need permits and the engineering works will have to be redone. As I understand it the previous site was cleared for new development, which didn’t actually take place, so it’s a complete new installation required. 6 months is a fast one, 9 months more likely.

There`s no question that this is a big deal and somewhat lost in all the other stuff that`s ongoing, but where would MSC get the MSAR from "this summer"?

Even if contracts are signed quickly for MSAR supply to MSC, ie Q2 this year, it will still take a further 6 - 9 months to sort out permitting and engineering works to instal the MMU, even if it is a return to Cepsa San Roque. It absolutely is not a case of plug back in and start up. That means a best case scenario of year end or much more likely Q1 26.

There might be, as Jason said, a quick route to contracts relatively speaking, but there isn`t a quicker route to MSAR supply, it takes a fixed time to get supply in place.

Jason said that with 2 MMU QED would be cash neutral. He also said 1 MMU could service a minimum of 15 ships.

David scott confirmed that QED require £3m per annum to cover costs, I allowed £4m in my calcs.

30 ships earning £3m = £100k per ship based on QED figures. So my £133k was generous.
