Im inclined to agree with you Flabby. Maybe hmg should take note as any additional tax will drive everyone away. Maybe that is what they are after to shut everything down and then rely on exports. Could they already be hammering out deals with a foreign entitities. Nothing would surprise me with this current government. Worst still the opposition parties seem to be the same.inmv

Do not worry we are underpinned at the 2.00 level . That would value us at cash at hand. Also as Scottaj mentioned Serica could do more maintenance and workovers effectively limiting the selling of gas until more favourable times .
On a possitive side the goernment may surprise us yeat and use their brains for a workable solution all round. As for North eigg as posted before the sooner this is out of the way the better. Personally i have zero faith that this will come good.

They may as well nationalise all North sea assets the way this is now heading. Also if I owned Serica as a private company I would mothball most of its production and only extract enough to cover the cost of this.

They could apply a additional tax on companies making excess of a billion as an example. Leaving smaller companies exempt.

They may also leave the oil and gas industry alone this time and go for they banks instead. Personally i think they should be targeting companies like Amazon and big tech companies instead.

Has anyone any idea as to what the cost to Serica would be if the tax was backdated to January. My estimate is around 40 million. So even if this does occur it would not be a catastrophe inmv. Maybe this is already being discounted in the current share price.

The share price of imperial brands has risen ten percent. This is after they instigated a coordinated buy back programme along side progressive dividends. All this is on the back of a falling market. Serica on the hand has fallen over ten percent.Surely if they did a partial buy back it would give some support. May even deter short seller's.

The problem we could now be facing is that should a low park offer come in. It may get accepted as some holders will be more sceptical about comments coming from the bod.

Don't say that as it could quite easily drop to nearer cash value. Remember when we traded at the 120 level for ages.The business then was only valued at around 50p if you took the cash element away.

Thanks sasa43. Sometimes it is easy to forget that we are still up decent percentage. Personally I plan to continue to hold,but would feel more comfortable if the business grew either by an acquisition or a mutual agreed merger. It would also be good to get north eigg out of the way so a clear path can be set.

I agree sasa43. This is an excellent hold at these levels,but there comes a point where something needs to be done to support the share price. I.e coordinated share buy back. This does work.As an example imperial brands. After all we have fallen over 30 per cent.

Cash will be fine NormaStits. You sound pretty clued up on the data front so i will leave that to you. Shall we say end of April next year so hopefully the data will clearly show a flow either into equities or not during the next six months. By then Serica could be well north as to where it is now. So to clarify the settlement will be to the value of one Serica share at the close of business on the 28th April 2023.
