Stop Press : Ryanair Annoy More Customers13 Oct 2020 11:35
Mum-of-one Tiggy Thompson is demanding a £476.94 Ryanair refund - after her family's week-long foreign holiday fell victim to coronavirus.
The 25-year-old had been due to fly out to Majorca on September 16 for a sunshine break with husband Martin and her young daughter as well as her mum, step-dad, sister, brother-in-law and their three children only for the hotel to be closed due to coronavirus.
Love Holidays has agreed to refund the £805 cost of the accommodation to the family-of-three.
But Ryanair is refusing to pay out because both the outbound and inbound flights took off without the family-of-three onboard.
“Ryanair is refusing to give any money back for the flights. And to change the flights I face having to pay more than I had actually paid for the original flights.
"I understand with coronavirus that we couldn't go but we wanted to book for next year. It’s nearly £500 - it’s a lot of money to lose."
Tiggy - who had booked the holiday and flights before the coronavirus pandemic - has emailed and tweeted Ryanair.
She added: “It’s made me really angry because at the end of the day there was nowhere for us to go and nowhere for us to stay and yet they were still expecting us to fly.
“I have found the customer service ridiculous and I will never book with them again. It's disgusting.”
Tiggy says she was told it would cost £90 per person, per flight to change her flights - a total of £560.
She added: “With there being a global pandemic, at the very least Ryanair could offer a refund or change the flights for free. It’s not like we have just decided to cancel it. We cannot change coronavirus.”
So ... in effect Ryanair is saying either fly with them (even if you have Covid !!) or you will lose your money. Not only disgusting but dangerous and a huge rip off. This will simply add to the already massive cash burn in the future as more and more customers vow never to fly Ryanair again.
