Yes, I was aware that somethething was different about today, other than it being the first day of the last month of winter.
I voted remain myself, but since it seems we are leaving now, Bojo has to somehow carry the whole country with him. I live in Sheffield and HS2 will reach my city somewhere about my 90th birthday.

I know it is unlikely that Grant reads this discussion board, but we really do need HS3 first. HS2 is another southern project.

Since my entire unsophisticated and somewhat lazy investment strategy has been based recently on the above statement, I woke up this morning to realise we are now in the last month of winter and I need a really stonkingly good RNS sometime in the next 4 weeks to avoid embarrassment, not to say chagrin.

Given that the 90 day test could delay such an RNS, I may have to plead for an extension until the end of March!

The market may be treating the acquisition of Boaty McDrillface as a dilution, given the uncertainty of future revenues from the asset. On the other hand the price of oil has come down $8 this month, pulling down oil shares across the board. What is needed is news on the deeps to refocus the market on our main business.

We couldn't have used that 25 million to buy a pipeline. Actual cash would be needed for that, rather than shares. OK I accept the storage costs of Boaty McDrillface will make a small hole in our cashflow, as would the costs of making it operational again (although that might be offset by revenue), but these are relatively small amounts. The two asset acquisitions are not comparable in terms of cashflow

If only I was good at trading, but experience has taught me that I am not, so I remain a humble investor, waiting for Spring.

In the last couple of years this share has spiked upwards in the late spring (April/May) eventually getting up towards 14p both times. There seem to be a lot of reasons to be optimistic that this will happen again this year, with more MJF wells and a good chance that we will have more than one deep in play.

In the meantime the Boaty McDrillface kerfuffle, however beneficial in the long term, will create a bit of downward pressure because people will worry about the dilution angle, and the relative quietness of activity at this time of the year will probably keep the lid on the share price. In three months time I think that will change - although there is a possibility of it happening earlier.

There was quite a lot of selling for the hour after the RNS but some solid buys this afternoon. I think this will settle down while we wait for news on the deeps which should not be too long. You have to admit, CASP gives us good entertainment value. Knowing them the next RNS will be on the shallows.

And nearly everyone managed to stay polite while we discussed the possible interpretations of the RNS!

If this turns out to be a poor deal because the value of the CASP shares have risen so much that the vessel is no longer good value for money, then all of us will surely be smiling! I am personally hoping that this is a really very poor deal indeed, the poorer the better.

Without a corresponding increase in revenues / profit this RNS represents a dilution and the sp could be expected to fall accordingly. On the other hand, the charge out rate for this vessel looks very attractive and if used in this way it could contribute to cash flow and onshore investment (but note it wasn't used at all in 2019 but instead cost $100,000 a month in port).

My most hopeful view would be that this news has been smuggled in at this point because some very good news is about to offset the normal WTF reaction that this type of under the radar, out of the blue, leftfield CASP move usually gets.

IHNC, I don't think being accused of ramping and deramping is really what I had in mind as a justification for filtering. Various people have suggested that I and other regular posters have been ramping for years (whereas we think we are just telling it how it is). That's part of the normal give and take on the board. However I do think normal standards of politeness do help contributors to get the most out of the conversation. There are some very knowledgeable people on this board (although no-one with and insight into to technical analysis at present which would be handy, even if I do think it is largely black magic) and we all gain from what insight each of us is able to contribute.

I know less about this share than others I have invested in in the past and would like to say thanks to many of the more knowledgeable contributors ( you know who you are). When people are in it for the medium to long term, as with CASP, it is also helpful to have some encouragement along the way, which can sometimes be misinterpreted as ramping!
