I tend to agree Quaytec. There is always the obvious interpretation of the A5 delay that it has just been difficult to work out how to make progress, and that it continues to be difficult, but that slow careful progress is being made on a two steps forward one step backwards basis. The boat may be a completely different issue and may even be influenced by the current minority owners of the boat whose agendas cannot even be guessed at. As for tax write offs or tax efficient restructuring of the ownership of CASP, while this seems plausible in a general sort of way, I rather doubt if any of our esteemed contributors on this board have a sufficient grasp of Kazakhstani tax law to explain how what is happening on the ground is advantageous under the fiscal arrangements in Kazakhstan. I know I haven't, and I probably know as much about economics as anyone on here.

There are a lot of sells this morning which is unsurprising but most of them are actually moderately low value with only a couple in the £10k + range. There are also a few brave buyers coming in at this relatively early stage. Some of these sellers will be looking to buy back later today, although of course some will be cutting their losses and looking for pastures new.

I can remember lots of posts on here over the years advocating patience and explaining how long Tenghis took to crack. This RNS can be interpreted as yet another frustrating lack of breakthrough on the deeps, or evidence of a careful and scientific approach to make sure we get it right this time. Clearly there is going to be a push on the MJF structure in the spring which will raise revenue in 2020 as we know how to drill this field. 3AB looks to be on hold with the minimum exploration activity which seems sensible with everything else going on. For LTH this is of course disappointing, but there are no shopping trolleys down the well this time.

The agreement of the meeting on Thursday for the acquisition of Boaty McDrillface is one of 5 things listed in the RNS which are necessary for it to go ahead, the others being various levels of Kazakh government agreement. Do we assume that these have already been tacitly obtained or will there be further delay while these permissions are sought? There is a backstop date of June 30th for the share issue needed to effect the acquisition which suggest some delay is anticipated.

If all of the payment is to be made by the issuance of new shares, then for the 40% of Boaty not owned by the family presumably will result in shares offered to someone else, creating a possible reservoir of new sellers later in the year.

There are an extra 4 delayed sales of 1.2m all from 08.48 yesterday on the trades list this morning all with slightly different prices. If correct that suggests someone offloaded about £420,000 yesterday and the drop in sp is therefore understandable!

I think bipolar describes the silence better. We get a period when they can't stop producing RNSs and we get one a week or more for a protracted period. This is the manic phase. Then weeks and weeks go by without so much as a whisper in the depressive phase of the RNS illness.

There are some people with bipolar disorder who don't take their medication because they say that the rush of the manic phase is worth pain of the depressive phase. Of course I may have made a mis-diagnosis here and it may be that CASP is suffering from bordeline personality disorder, or maybe even schizophrenia.

Kazakhstan is not in OPEC and therefore does not have to restrict its output. OPEC chooses to restrict its output when it thinks the price is falling too much, which is happening at the moment during the corona virus crisis which (hopefully) is a short term response.

Other countries like Russia and the USA do not even have a belief in such a policy yet, and at current prices for electric cars, many countries will be too poor to transfer quickly.
