I'm coming across as a bit pedantic, and that's probably because I am. I just think that if I, as an EV owner, can spot unrealistic figures in the Roadshow Brochure, then potential customers who know a lot more than me are going to spot it too.
rich list, a kW is a unit of power, so has time factored into it. Over a 24 hour period a 96kW plug will deliver 2304kWh. But you can only have 4.17 plugs if you're delivering 96kW to each plug. The more plugs, the less kW you're able to deliver to each, so at 25 - 100 plugs, you're no longer rapid charging with 400kW of generation capacity, and even with the additional 360kWh of storage it's not going help much with that number of plugs.
Klunk, yes it will deliver me a rapid charge with that sort of capacity, but with so many charge points you assume there will be other EV's there charging too. My problem is the number of 'rapid' charge points they think each unit will service.
MitchConner, yes I get that. But even with only 9 'rapid' charge points of 50kW constant use there is only enough storage capacity for 7.2 hours on the 9th radid charger (8 x 50kW would fully take up the fuel cell generation capacity).
As an EV owner I have a problem with how many rapid chargers each unit will support. When I think of a rapid charger I think it should be at least 50kW, and as time goes on, even more. I have a Tesla, and our smallest superchargers are 120kW, and in the US they're now up to 360kW. I don't see how AFC expect to have up to 100 'rapid' charge points on a 400kW unit, that's only 4kW per charge point - I'd be there for nearly 19 hours to fill my 75kWh battery!
It does seem suspicious behavior to tell us all that you sold out 9 years ago, and then turn up on this board after so long to talk it down. You have been a member here since 2009 but you've never posted on the AFC board till now. I'm calling you out as a BS artist and opportunist that's trying to get into this stock by first talking it down.
That is definitely staged. You cannot open the charge port from inside the car without selecting "open charge port", which is a giveaway that it's not petrol. Plus the fact it rolls away with no noise when you drive it.
Yes ColinH100, I've also noticed the massive rise recently of PPS. There must be a few here invested in both AFC and PPS? How have PPS attracted so much attention for their share price to go up so much? Have they really got the best tech?
13thmonkey, no the max theoretical efficiency of a fuel cell is around 83%, but in reality you won't get near that, and the efficiency of burning to generate heat energy is 100%. Sure, you'll get heat off the fuel cell, but how would you put that into your boiler without making an overly complicated expensive system relative to just burning it?
Southerhay, there would be too many inefficiencies to use a fuel cell to convert hydrogen to electricity to then run a boiler - you'd be better to just burn the hydrogen because virtually 100% ends up as heat, which is the energy format you need to run a boiler. Couldn't help point out some basic physics sorry.
As an outsider of both the EU and UK, it looks to me like the UK wants to leave a club and no longer pay the subs, but to still have some of the benefits of being in the club. It seems pretty simple to me - you leave the club and that's it, all your club benefits are cut off.
