RE: RNS15 Jun 2021 12:14
all you can say about that is that at least it didn't make it any worse, which in itself is a positive compared to much of the newsflow that comes out of ODX.
You'll note that the position is still exactly the same as it was in Feb:-
feb 11th:
"The intention is that as soon as the DHSC has access to a test that has successfully passed a performance evaluation, the test will be licensed for Omega to manufacture. As part of the contract, DHSC will loan a number of key pieces of manufacturing equipment"
today
"Under that contract Omega will provide manufacturing capacity for COVID-19 lateral flow antigen tests utilising the key pieces of manufacturing equipment loaned by the UK Government for that purpose and Omega will manufacture whichever test is approved for use by the DHSC. "
Same message. What has changed of course is that in Feb, it was "any day now" that ODX would announce they had TT-ed the mologic test, a test that "any day now" would appear on the validation list from PHE, and "any day now" that uk gov would select that test as a sov test. Oh, and the country was in complete lockdown, with only a small proportion vaccinated.
Today, it took ODX 5 months to TT the test, the test has failed porton down validation, and the uk gov seems no closer to picking a test for odx to manufacture than it did in Feb, with an increasingly high percentage of the population vaccinated to the point that 19th of Jul is the "great unshackling day" for the uk. And where now are all the folks that insisted that ODX was mass producing stockpiles of tests under an NDA for the gov
That £50M-£374M contract is starting to look a lot more like £50M than £374M, and it would be worth noting that in the parliamentary answer to the question about surescreen, the respondent highlighted that there were a number of get out clauses in that contract, which is substantially similar to the ODX contract.
Appears ODX has allowed itself to be shafted by the government for a second time, quite an achievement.
