Anyone know if we are looking at any offshore production assets, it seems like our focus and expertise has always been onshore assets and I suppose rightly so…… but if we are looking at another 40,000 Bopd asset there aren’t many other onshore assets of size available unless we start to look offshore, thoughts welcome were we screening offshore acquisitions as well ?

Good week to come back with oil touching close to $80 uk lockdowns not looking likely as it stands. I do feel that we won’t be back trading this week still. The admission document if there are no further delays will likely come Thursday and more likely after hours with trading resuming Tuesday 4th January……….

Well articulated zengas I thought the same and concurs with your thoughts life goes on in these countries and as you say the oil production export did not stop through the period of turmoil. But what it can do is definitely drive down the acquisition price if we were to turn our interest into something more concrete. My guess is that vitol are in desperate need to secure future supply amongst a growing lack of investment in new oil fields and development, and energy trading houses will scramble to meet their contractual obligation and hence savannah are a vehicle for vitol to secure these assets to ensure that they can meet the demands of there customers and that has a certain risk vs reward associated with and my guess is if vitol back the Sudan deal then they are keen if it wasn’t for them savannah would probably not proceed which I suppose can give comfort to many because if there is operational interruptions then vitol would be understanding and more relaxed about the debt terms if they are driving the deal

Agree cc although it does depend on how fast Petronas are willing to leave and at what price as I said if they are looking to leave quickly we can take advantage of the fact. Also in terms of the security situation and operating in South Sudan I guess that would always be an issue with its history but also at the same time if the acquiring company can establish a relationship with the government then I am sure they would offer some sort of protection of the oil pipeline especially if it’s in there interest as I am sure that oil revenues make up the lion share of the government coffers. I suppose there is always risk operating in Africa some countries a little more then others. I would also prefer the Tunisian acquisition first as that would be more stable and if we are keen for another sizeable acquisition then I am sure that there are a few other sizeable assets that we could acquire in Africa from the majors.

The reason we have an competitive edge for asset acquisitions over competitors is because we have finance from Vitol but more importantly Vitol are an energy trading business so there is a route to market access for our production. The difference with other players is they may have access to capital but do they have immediate access to route to market for any hydrocarbons produced in the form of Vitol and that’s our edge not just access to capital.

I had a strange dream last night which consisted of us acquiring the Sudan assets for circa $1.2bn………. ;)

I have been trying to find any potential asset price touted on the net but couldn’t find anything. I suppose if we can get the Petronas South Sudan assets for circa $1bn for 40,000 Bopd would seem reasonable and consistent with what we paid for chad/cameroon which was $626m for 25,000 bopd. If we get it for cheaper because of the risk discount the assets carry both politically and regionally then I think it will be the bargain of the century………..

KK - Joining the dots it tells me that they would have discussed the Sudan assets for months already meaning that they could even be at a stage where they are discussing some terms obviously it’s still all conjecture.m but nevertheless promising……..

South Sudan potential is massive as well and I can see why Andrew is looking to snap up the Petronas assets for Sudan 3.5 billion 90% reserves untapped plus with the East African pipeline being built by 2030 is going to be huge. “With developments such as the Lamu Port and Lamu-Southern Sudan-Ethiopia Transport Corridor Project (LAPSSET) and the East African Oil Pipeline, regional connectivity and energy access will be increased on a large-scale basis, enabling multiple East African countries to benefit from neighboring resources.”

It could be another win win entry point and allow us a stronger foothold in East Africa, whilst generating strong cashflow as current production for Petronas is in the 40k region.

Andrew is definitely building a behemoth of a company and I see why he reference “Projects that matter in Africa”. All projects we enter are very strategic in lifting the associated region out of poverty and to develop infrastructure along the way.

I am even more excited by this acquisition if he pulls it off as it gives us a footing and entry into the East African market ………………

Well by the looks of it for the Sudan assets of its true and as reported Petronas would prefer to offload to the same as CC then we would have already had the necessary discussions at the same time as conducting the chad deal, obviously it wouldn’t have made sense to talk about the Sudan assets for now as the primary reason for suspension was for the Exxon deal for chad and we have also acquired the Petronas portion which makes it part of the enlarged Chad / Cameroon deal as technically they are the same asset just us acquiring the lion share.

AI - have been so far very credible in there news stories so they have already mentioned that savannah were favourites for the Tunisian assets and looks like we could be for Sudan as well. If we could wrap both of these up be the end of Jan / Feb. That would be amazing wouldn’t it, I for one would be happy to defer re-listing if they said to us that they need more time to complete these 2 deals and informed the market of the same. The last thing I would want is for us to re-list and go into another suspension hopefully not as long for example if we acquire Sudan assets which Zengas illuded to being 40,000 Bopd or so would that constitute as another rto and therefore suspension or will our enlarged company including the CC assets make us just slightly bigger or equal to the Sudan assets and therefore not suspension required…….. ? I would welcome the thoughts of the wider group on here ?

Could the delay be because we are in the midst of other acquisitions I.e Tunisia or Sudan and not related to chad assets. It seems clear that we are clearly keen to add 2-3 more assets and that being quite quickly, personally I would prefer the Tunisian assets over Sudan as it will come with less operational challenges but if Petronas are willing to sell the Sudan assets for pennies on the pound that the risk v reward my be worth it even if we may have the odd challenge from an operational standpoint. At this rate it would not surprise me we get additional news on acquisitions quite promptly after re-listing, at this rate we will be £2 per share quite quickly ;)

We should have an rns tomorrow to at least keep the few impatient appraised, otherwise they will drive themselves crazy until next Wednesday

I love this definitely starting to irritate a few but it is what it is, enjoy the festive period and chill. Time works everything out by itself

Looks like it will be new year now, personally don’t feel that there is any point in releasing it now and might as well be the new year on the 4th personally I am happy to wait
