Acquisitions in Africa21 May 2022 10:45
It’s always prudent to sound out the ministry and get them on side before finalising any acquisition in Africa, otherwise you can be dragged into a long battle to get approvals and sign off. Let’s hope savannah get all legal stuff water tight before proceeding with any additional acquisitions in Africa. My guess is we would have probably agreed heads of terms on other acquisitions but they can only move forward or be formalised upon completion of chad deal, let’s hope we achieve formal sign off in the next couple of weeks, and can move our focus onto other renewable or perhaps additional oil and gas assets. I personally feel that inorganic growth in form of acquisitions can take us above 100k Bopd per day and then optimising all our asset base can easily make us a 150k Bopd producing company, possible within the next 18 months or so and oil prices will likely remain high at least for the next 5yrs or so. We still got spare capacity to possibly take on 1.5 - 2.0 billion dollars worth of more debt to fund further acquisitions. Personally I would like us to probably look at wider Africa and potentially east Africa. Could we farm into tullow Kenya assets after all they are looking for partners to progress further ?
