RE: Milibandβs Β£22bn CO2 vision risks crashing into reality19 Oct 2025 22:03
Watching ITV, there is an energy company in prime time peddling Millibands "home grown energy" beggars belief.
Think that kuenssberg would have been more robust than Derbyshire. He managed to put a logical argument together without Derbyshire calling out its fundamental flaws. Does not sound like there will be any change to EPL or North Sea exploration, lip service will given to the so called review and consultation with the industry. His intention is sadly to go further and faster in the wrong direction. Our manufacturing industries are simply not competitive with almost the highest electricity prices in the world. Exodus of wealth creators and investors Dyson, Jim Radcliffe et al. Last month 150,000 jobs lost in the private sector yet 150,000 created in the public. The maths will not add up, will result in more borrowing from the government at ever increasing interest rates. I am sickened by this government and the decisions they are making on pretty much all of the matters that feel important to me. I run a small manufacturing business in the Midlands and employ 30 people, currently being strangled by higher taxes (Employers NIC, packaging waste regulation fees, council tax) unsurprisingly not made any money this year so will avoid corporation tax. Apologies this is off topic, started off about O&G and developed into a rant out of my frustration.
