Have naively increased my positions in JOG, HBR and ENQ this week, this decision was loosely based on POO and forecasts of +$100 a barrel in 2024 with perhaps higher prices moving further into the future. Surely something has to give in regard to the EPL , the recent Rees Mogg podcast was incisive and the stances of Linda Cooke (HBR), ACW outgoing chair at SQZ and Amjad Bseisu (ENQ) as well as other industry experts toward the EPL must hold some sway with either with this government or the next. Guess I will now hunker down and wait for some sanity to return to both our politicians and the markets, economics will have to force some change eventually, I anticipate a long wait. ATB

AIMO - "they are in a better position to manage their CGT " laughable, most investors here will be nursing their loses probably not even wanting to sell and crystalize their loss, many are probably buying and averaging down. If the shares are within an ISA then there are not even losses to carry forward. Give me dividends please and big ones! Dividends attract investors and will ultimately improve our SP.

NewKOTB - Boycott the BBC, I had to stop watching several years ago as was not doing my blood pressure any good, news is anything other than impartial. On a positive note the dividend pays out today.

DonkeyOatey - Thanks for the pointer, that was an interesting watch. Have most of my silver still in O&G despite abysmal performance in recent times, I'm sure the corner will be turned soon as demand outstrips supply, its all about the long game. Just hope I am still here to see it play out! ATB.

Greener - Largely agree with your rationale below and your 7 reasons to be a little less gloomy. Almost every single NS investor is bemoaning at present, portfolios are heavily underwater almost entirely due to our feckless politicians. Worse are waiting in the wings. In honesty I wish that I had sold up my NS investments in their entirety when the "windfall" tax was first introduced, hindsight is a wonderful thing and sticking with them has thus far proved to be a very poor decision. I can understand why many investors have thrown in the towel. However like yourself I have not sold a single Jog share and have accumulated some more as circumstances have allowed. I am prepared to sit and wait it out like yourself and many others, lets hope that our politicians come to their senses. If not my dotage is going to be bleak.

NKOTB - All PI's invested in the UK O&G industry are feeling the pain of EPL. With Labour in the wings I fear things are only going to get worse. Question is when to sell or do you continue with blind hope thinking/hoping that something has to change. Wish I had the answers, however we are not alone all Pi's are in the same position. The frustration, and general malaise is evident throughout every single forum.

Abatt1 that is how I read desale78 comment too. Anyway it sent DU off into a mode reinforcing our companies position and potential, not a bad thing to hear again given our recent share price performance. Keep the faith we will all be rewarded at some point in the not too distant future.

NewKotb - Perhaps the BOD have much more ambition than we have given them credit for, it was just several months ago that many on here, yourself included, were berating them for sitting on our cash pile and not doing anything with it. Here we are a few months later with near doubled production and a more diversified portfolio. There are trust issues with our new majority share holders which will hopefully prove unfounded, perhaps I am naeve and too trusting, time will tell as always. However this could prove to be great long term play, I would be in favour of a JOG tie up, for disclosure I am a holder there. In a few short years we could be a serious NS producer providing the UK with much needed energy security. I have had many doubts and frustrations with my investments in both SQZ and JOG but continue to hold both despite the loonacy of government policies and their approach to the O&G industry, there could be even worse to come with Labour policies in the near term. However the tenet of my investments is that O&G is here to stay regardless, the price of which will continue to rise as demand increases and supply contracts. jmofwiw.

But who are our bed fellows? Harbour in spite of all their anti NS rhetoric or perhaps Serica who report their results mid April. Answers on a postcard please, if posted now they might just reach me by month end in our feckless broken country.
