I am inclined to think that MB has hit the nail on the head about government wanting to ensure capacity is ramped up and ready to go by the end of October so there's no perception of delay between now and DDay ie. the launch of a plan for mass testing.
Still they will have to get the contract done before then and the MHRA approval and give the media some time to get to grips with the immunity report. And they are under such pressure to explain an exit plan from additional restrictions they could feel obliged to give the green light to news before then.
Also interesting to see the ABC test has been approved for US FDA assessment with an examiner assigned on 8th October. We just need to hold for gold as lths really. Soumya Swarminatha has done an interview with CNN. She says 24 out of 34 million people have had it twice. So in answer to the question 'can you get it twice?' she says it's very rare. She goes on to say that antibodies are showing for 7 months after infection but because the disease is really only 9 months old they are likely to last much longer.

At the end of the day who has done any better? Germany- already had a brilliant diagnostics industry. New Zealand- an island with hundreds of miles distance from the nearest foreign land mass. Vietnam, South Korea- previous recent pandemic experience which they put to use effectively. China- ditto but personally I don't see that their data is reliable- no real separation of state and public health institutions.

It's good news for us. Bottom line is antibodies do show for 5-7 months and the research team say they will probably provide immunity for years. But they haven't 'proved' immunity because they don't know if the cohort were re-exposed for definite. The UK REACT2 immunity study will provide former evidence because it's looked at health workers who can be reliably assumed to have been re-exposed. On 1st October Imperial college, who are leading the work, said the study will be published 'very soon '. So really should be out any time.

Regulator, that's patently obvious. The point of my post is that there's new international research with a big sample cohort-30,000 people that is now showing immunity for 5-7 months. That is the period of time that the cohort were previously infected. The evidence base is getting stronger. Sigh. But, you know. Knock yourself out. Keep on missing the point.
The UK are about to publish our immunity study looking at the experience of over 100,000 people. Bodes very well.

I don't mean vindication for everything Johnson has ever done Regulator. For a clever geezer I do wonder some days mate. I meant obvs, vindication for the argument of the day- to lockdown or to implement an effective test and trace. I don't know that he will achieve it. I hope he does for all our sakes.

Obviously it won't replace the EU market Regulator. But ODX has got capacity for about 110 million tests a year atm so that should take care of a significant export market if we want one.

University of Arizona has tested 30,000 people. They found lasting immunity and strong showing antibodies for 5-7 months. The lead scientists believe immunity will last much longer. The study is ongoing. Published yesterday.
REACT 2 will be published any time. Don't be out. Wall to wall coverage likely. Vindication for Johnson on the cards. No lockdown. Targeted test, track and trace with the mass roll out of the best antibody and antigen poc tests in the UK if not the world.
