They are buying extra parts for testing kits. And now an £8 million contract has been awarded to a software company for antibody test and trace. Bit of Xmas selling going on today. I will take some more over the next few days. Good buy in prices.

Sadly we will not prosper as a whole. The mutation is bad news for our economic recovery. The BioNtech CEO said today that they will be reassessing the vaccine efficacy for 2 weeks. Very worrying. My mum is 77 and on her own now having lost her husband of 58 years, in Spain until she can get the vaccine. My family's anxiety is multiplied by millions and many other stories are worse.
Our investment will come good. Shame it's in such circumstances.

I can see them confirming the contract and refusing to engage with the GLP until it gets to court at which point they will wipe the floor with the GLP. The regulations allow them to take decisions to support their duty to try to control the pandemic. The early tests were truly bad. They took initiative to get something better. They will establish that they have something better. Then, as the article implies, they will order even more. Then they will allow international sales and they might even go for sales to the public after all (they have clearly been worried about this). If the new strain can be picked up by Mologic and ABC19 tests and we are back to the drawing board with vaccines for 2-6 weeks ( as the BioNTech CEO says will happen if the vaccines are not as effective on the new strain), poc lft tests will be one of our only sheets of armour for a bit. 2020 just gets worse.

If BioNtech are saying they are assessing the vaccine vs the new variant, does that mean if they need to revise the vaccine we are back to the drawing board for at least 6 weeks?
Everything just keeps getting worse and worse. I can't believe this year. At least we are invested in something that will save lives.

In other news, GSK have just spent £1billion buying various minnow pharma in very early stage trials and the UK government say they will be fast tracking future drug trials to build up the UK pharma industry(FT today). Nice to know hey.

Yes, I read somewhere this weekend, that the AZ vaccine will be approved on 28th or 29th. The resulting coverage should mean that they reveal their hand about antibody test partnerships as both Moderna have. While Pfizer have said they check the vaccine has taken, using an antibody test I haven't noticed whether they have named a testing firm. Has anyone else?

Our volume is higher than lots of FTSE 250 shares but Aim market makers hold the price within a set trading range. It keeps the price accessible but it gets us down.
Wondering whether ODX will say something about the value of their tests vs the nee variant. NCYT have put out an RNS on this and GDR have been tweeting on it. Both have seen a bit of benefit.

Lovejoy, that's the classic dilemma for investors. We feel despair (until we get used to investing) when the price drops and positive when it rises. Which is why we are more likely to buy when it rises. If you think there's good money to be made from the current baseline buy. If you are already in deep, hold. Wait till we get news and buy more from a perception of reduced risk.
Realistically, the environment is good to buy. New contracts coming out every day. The government are committed to buying British they say and building a British diagnostics industry that will serve us well into the future.
The only question is did we back the right horse? I think we did. We will soon find out.

Some care homes are refusing Innova tests according to the Guardian at the weekend. We need tests that are much better than Innova's.

I'm no longer convinced they will approve self tests until they have bought enough antibody tests to support the vaccine roll out. Which is for up to 50 million people.
That's the second antibody test contract- the first was for £30 million and now we have one for between £30 and £100 million. I expect the latest will supersede the first.
Hope Mologic will get CONDOR approval in time for Christmas. Crossed everything ;)

For phase 3 trials. Home trials recruiting. Adjustments to the trials approved- ensuring consideration of long covid and faster conclusion. When the interim results show the same high level of efficacy as phase 2- very likely indeed- we will probably see some jockeying amongst big pharma for joint ventures or even buyouts. Now is the time to buy. Glad I am in.

John, the vaccines are already being rolled out. The MHRA were on TV explaining the whole approval process for vaccines. Han**** was on TV crying. Try to keep up mate.

Papers are finally catching on I see. The Francis Crick Institute (great and the good from SAGE) are also doing the maths. They say we are winning but we must take advantage of the available diagnostics, going forward.

The Mirror now also has this story. They say all secondary school children will get 2 tests before returning to school which is 2.75 million x 2= 5.5 million tests waiting for us :) Innova won't cut it.
Mologic's efficacy is better than Optigene's and Innova's. The others on the approved lists don't have capacity.
This is going to be part of a regular testing regime according to the 'Winter Plan '. Have a read. It sets out their intentions for mass testing.
Dishy Rishy has also just announced yet another furlough extension to the end of April. So they know very well the vaccine won't be done by Easter. It's too big a job. We may well be back at work by next Summer but it will be a combination of vaccination and mass testing that will make it work.
