Indeed. It's just that MARS, alongside SGC are 2 that I really like. I know that you're not supposed to get attached and all of that but still. The jump in their sp yesterday is welcome news. Interesting few days/weeks ahead there I think.

Stagecoach, like Marston's is one that I like holding. I know that you're not supposed to get attached to shares you buy into, but sometimes you just do, don't you.

It seems that NEX have shown a bit of interest in SGC, (one of my other holdings). Never saw that coming.

Going by on the main road where I live. Expansion plans starting to bear fruit by the looks of it.

There may well be issues. While FS order in advance, that's not really much of an issue. It's the getting ingredients here that is likely to be the problem with the shortage of delivery drivers.

As we buy a lot of ingredients from Greece for our Real Greek restaurants, I had floated an idea that I'd had relating to an Olive Oil producer in Zakynthos called Aristeon who used to offer a mail order service for their oil. They stopped doing it because of the export costs of sending it out in dribs & drabs. I also passed the idea on to Aristeon as well at the same time.

Aristeon did contact the email address on Fulham Shore's website with a view to a partnership with us, and possibly selling us their mail ordering list, which to me seems a good idea. Not only do we gain access to a great product to add to our offering, also a good number of their customer base to increase brand awareness to ourselves, but as far as I know, FS have not responded.

I hope they do. I can see good advantages for all concerned if this was to bear fruit.

Also, if anyone is planning a trip to Zante, buy a can of it to sample for yourselves. I do all the time. It's good stuff.

Not been on much of late, but thought I'd check in to see how we all are. Our pan lids have been off school, you know how it is.

Also we've had a weekend away in the Midlands too which went rather well. Our favourite Marstons pub was not as busy as we usually see it, which was rather odd considering the nice weather. I'd say it was at half capacity at best, but then, the Premier Inn we go to seemed quieter than usual as well. The tea time trade on the Saturday there seemed fairly quiet too.

That said, I hope we are all holding up well. Even you, Supercharger.

I too wonder why no mention was made of the two "offers" in December were not mentioned. I know that we had some kind of comment made by RF about not informing the markets.

I'm not implying that he was behaving negligently by making no reference to it, but either way, even if he had planned to dismiss either or both offers out of hand, shareholders should have been made aware of them. It's a transparency issue to my mind.to

I get the point as well that this Khak handed Brain's deal will have muddied the water as well, and like yourself, I've made my opinions on this subject known too. I still maintain that while I see some limited merit to it, I would have preferred to have seen Brain's to have been thrown to the wolves and is to pick up their carcass up for a pittance, and build it up from there.

Just my view, of course.

I'm not convinced that the board were negligent in turning the offer down.

They deemed the offer to be too low to consider it. I agreed with that sentiment at that time. I still do. I believe that they were fishing for a cheap bargain. I don't condone that. God loves a trier and all of that. That said, if they were genuinely interested in buying Marstons, they would have come back with an improved offer, but they chose not to.

Respectfully, I just don't buy into how the Mars BOD were not looking after shareholder's interests at that point in time.

@Joe Kenny. I hope so mate. Lots of things seem to be down today. Still, it's not to be unexpected really. All businesses are struggling at the moment given the pandemic. The only exceptions of course are food producers and supermarkets, but then, we all know this to be fair.

I don't see much "Sunny side". (No pun intended giving the gorgeous weather) until next year in the travel & leisure sector until next year's trading results start to filter through with each company's take is known.

Personally, I would expect to see good numbers coming in across the board given how there will be
rich pickings to be had considering the pent up spend heading the sector's way over the next 12 months or so as we've all been in lockdown. Hell, I'm even looking to price up our holiday for next year.....

And of course this wonderful weather can't be doing us much harm here, can it?

You're not painting a very pretty picture there mate, but your findings are your findings.

I know that you have been to a couple of different places, and found a very similar pattern at them.
It's a shame that the company is not looking to address these issues. I've mentioned this before, while I do see some merit in the Brain's deal, I still believe that the time and money spent on this would have been better spent on putting our own house in order, rather than looking at propping up a (potentially) ailing business. Personally I would have left them to take their chances with the wolves and scooped up it's remains for a lot less, but still.

I'm not really too bothered about those that want to post silly things. If that's his thing,that's his thing. Lesson learned with him and am happy to see him going on his jolly way rejoicing.

You're right, normally I tend not to get too involved with silly posters.

That said I did have a read through the link he posted, and for the larger part of the article, it did look like that the majority of it was about our Marstons, that was why I posted the first comment that I did, thinking that I'd jump to his defence (but just a little) but his response to it looked a little like he was criticising me for that, which sent a rush of blood to the head.

Very out of character to blow a fuse the way I did perhaps, but at least I now know to take him with a pinch of salt going forward.

You know, from experience, I generally find that those that brag about how much money they have got are often the same kind of people that buy themselves really huge massive "Sherpa Tank" kind of cars despite living alone, or living in their house with one other person at most. Generally, this implys that they are compensating for other inadequacies.
