After early tittering his transparent honesty and decency turned opinion round so that everyone had respect for the man.Some achievement in a town where so many still fight the class war.

All well and good ed but it is no use talking to ourselves,these messages must be broadcast across Swedish media and further afield to counter the Sami and green voices.The occasional mining seminar talking to a small audience will not sway decision makers. BEM has to shout about the unfairness and the considerable changes BEM has done to satisfy all the extra requirements that have been added to the specs. Where is the Marketing department and the Swedish board members having any impact ?

An excellent article,one that I suggested Kurt should have been feeding the media for a year or two. The green lobby have been allowed to get away with rank hypocrisy for far too long. They obstruct mines but preach progress for the poor to seek praise but forget they need mines for drains,cars, washing machines,aircraft for their holidays,ships for their cruises,etc. Greens in Sweden and UK enjoy the benefits of mining but seek to hold back poorer countries from such facilities.BEM have started doing this in Kurts seminars but we have needed politicians and journalists to start saying this message to the wider public.LKAB clearly have better connections.

In this farcical election I am fearing not much change there then. Quotes at this stage are merely flowery words that were probably voiced by incoming ministers several times over in times past. Lofven will be focussed on staying in power and will not upset any of his minority parties ,especially his loyal greens who will be more disposed to storm out on principles. I am impressed by thinking they have to apply the law to BEM proposal when making a decision. Thats all they have ever needed to do for 4 years ! My feeling is the incoming minister will not touch hot potatoes and sit on matters.

Having the greens in government cannot be a good thing to my mind. Compromises may have been made ,we all want to think that but,.... really ? Greens are zealots,not political animals !The crucial matter will be what ministries are given to a rump movement that still seems to have a disproportionate influence in power corridors.

Is a lame duck for me,rather like Italy when a handful of small MP's can hold the coalition to ransom. The old leader,apparently losing popularity,will continue with a few small changes ? My prediction is the greens will demand a role on the environment or the first test will vote against ,bringing it all down. What a mess,albeit slightly less than before. Interesting to see the cabinet on wednesday !

Suzy,I can understand your drift if ,and I mean IF, the greens behaved with courtesy to the company and other miners. Their DNA doesnt let them endorse a new mine . We may claim BEM is a green mine Eric but I guarantee the typical green MP doesnt believe that.

I just cant see how anyone can think a government with green participation would fail to be obstructive to a mining application.It is their raison d'etre ! As soon as one application is put forward the coalition would collapse as their 15 MP's would vote with the opposition and the government would fall. Would any leader take that chance early in its term ? No way.

Logical solution will take into account their mutual distaste for Sweden Democrats and see Lofven and Kristerssen unite to govern and keep SD out. Some smaller groups may not like that but will show their luvviness by saying they have no other way to keep the bad guys out. Lofven as PM and Kristerssen as DPM will be offered up soon. AIMO of course but it lets them dump the loonies and govern for real.
