Cristalball, no doubt our sensitivity band specificity levels will be very high from what Dress was saying. Skin mentioned Femtogram per ml performance in their presentation (astonishing). Dr AS did not go down to this level. However, if Skin are correct then we have something special here with our affirmers!

Zebbo, if a vaccine happens it will take 2 years to rolled. Is the mutant strain covered??
Testing still needs to accompany any vaccine rollout. Dr AS said capacity is the bottleneck. Thus means all test suppliers have a market to supply to. This includes existing tests and new tests that are being developed. I even include Paraytec/Sheffield University 5 minute test here which has proof of concept early October.
There will be no monopoly over testing.
We need to throw everything at this.

The Guardian reported test takes 15-30 minutes.
R4 Today (6:10 on 29/9/20) states Germany (20M) and France have bought tests. Unknown if the UK have purchased.
It's all about speed of test now.

5 minute test anyone?
The worldwide demand is massive. No one supplier has capability to supply the numbers involved. This means all test companies will benefit. The faster and more accurate tests ( in terms of sensitivity and specificity) should rise to the top.

Does the mass spectrum give away any commercial ip of the chemicals used? Any thoughts?

Monkshood, looking at the mass spectrum, m/z scale went up to several thousand. Would this infer a magnetic sector mass spectrometer as opposed to a TOF mass spectromer being used?

Where was ODX mentioned in the RNS? Could not see any reference. Was it in the presentation??

One other query on BAMS...
The slide says about the BAMS test, 'exquisite specificity' and, seeing how detailed the mass spectrum plot is, one can see that it would be exquisitely specific, as required for keeping the false positives low, which people recently have been saying is such a problem for low prevalence. One detail that is missing from the BAMS slide , though, is just how much SARS-CoV2 there was on that one bead?? Any thoughts?

Question for the Chemists here
One potential loose end, which came up in the questions, is the extent to which Glycosylation affects the LFT: Dr AS treated this as an interesting technical detail to find out about.

However, it is a different question to whether the Affimers bind to spike proteins with different degrees of Glycosylation, which he did answer clearly as not being a problem - the issue is how the LFT behaves with different degrees of Glycosylation.

To do mass testing successfully, 120M tests are required per month in the UK alone!!!

The shear numbers dictate that there will not be a monopoly in covid tests. Competition will be welcomed in order to support mass testing!!! The limitation is supply.
If Paraytec/Sheffield University proof of concept works then the market cap of BRH (100% owner of Paraytec) is only going one way.

This could be a hare and tortoise race to the line for the fastest test, if proof of concept is validated.
