“The UK seems a bit transfixed by getting a point-of-care antigen saliva test, which is giving us an extra technical challenge and seems to be proving more difficult to get to work than tests that use a nasal swab,” he says. He thinks it may be better to focus effort and resources on overcoming the logistical problems with the current testing system instead.

This could make for an interesting investment here with BRH!

PL75, any thoughts on when Avacta LFT may be available? Avacta BB tonight stating 2021!
If this is the case (no irrespectively) we (BRH) have the opportunity to get a mass test (<=300 seconds) into production to be used for the national/global effort!
I say irrespectively, due to DrAS comments on limited capacity to meet monumental demand!
If sensitivity, specificity and test time is good then this covid test by Paraytec/Sheffield University will rise to the top!
What market cap would result?

HaHa, I think Sona used an aptamer solution for their LFT which was developed by Cytiva.
Avacta's Affirmer LFT was also developed by Cytiva.
Clinical trials indicated 96% sensitivity and 96% specificity for the Sona LFT.

Avacta have not declared any sensitivity or specificity data even though there was a 1-2 month delta time between Cytiva releasing the LFT prototypes.
Interestingly, Cytiva has announced a collaborative venture with the aptamer group for a rapid covid test: https://www.aptamergroup.co.uk/covid-19-rapid-test/
Why would they do this if ther was significant variation??
Obviously, there will be variability, but ball park there may very well be comparable performance between affirmers and aptamers.
Someone who used to work for Avacta on the Avacta BB was stating (yesterday?) how variable an LFT can be to the slightest variation of manufacture. Is this why Avacta's LFT may be 3 months delayed?
This may be a very important differentiator for the Paraytec/Sheffield University test and make our test come to the top due to its relative simplicity. Looking at the spectrums through the new Paraytec detector seems to give a distinct response! Oh nearly forgot, in <= 300 seconds.
We could be on to a winner here!
As I said Dr AS (CEO of Avacta), stated no one manufacturer has capacity to supply demand. That's why all tests (good ones) are needed!!
The interesting part of the work for Paraytec/Sheffield University will be evaluation of sensitivity and specificity during clinical evaluation!
Market Cap makes it at no brainer investment for me!

Torreaguas, Paraytec have a different approach. The Work Package Milestones are very good in some ways as it provides transparency.
Paraytec's Project Management identified early October for POC.
We had a partial update on 5th October with notification of final verification by 16th October, i.e. early October!
A lot of other BoDs could learn a lot from Paraytec's approach!
Happy with my investment here. Once we have POC, that's when the interest will arrive and the "herd". No doubt this gives additional stimulus to the BRH share price.
I will be looking for more WP information as we move forward from POC.
Market Cap always made this an interesting investment.
Other news on Roche shortages and Roche's "weeks" of recovery required and the shear difficulties everyone is having getting a test (ie travelling the length and breadth of the country) informs me that more and faster tests are needed! This was a binary outcome for me. The POC is a major milestone and the recent tweet by Carl informs me to hold for gold!

With no one Company providing test assays/solutions due to demand and capability limitations ALL the best test assays/solutions (in terms of sensitivity, specificity and time for test result) are required!
Lets hope the POC is ready by 16th October by Paraytec/Sheffield University so that the test development/manufacturing and conformance required can proceed at pace.
