The material was supplied frozen at a concentration of TCID50 of 3.40 x10^5 per mL. the starting material was spiked into a volume of pooled nasal swab specimen (the most
challenging respiratory matrix) obtained from healthy donors and confirmed negative for
SARS-CoV-2. Based on the LOD studies, a low (3x LoD) SARS-CoV-2 concentration of
1.02x 10^3 TCID50/mL was chosen. The specimen was confirmed positive for SARS-CoV-
2 with faintly line on Line T. Furthermore, the above-mentioned specimen was divided
into 30.Finally, the microorganism indicated below was respectively spiked into the
divided specimen to obtain microbial interference specimens that SARS-CoV-2 is present
in a specimen with one microorganism.
Seems to me Innova used an artificial test, not real samples!!!!!!
Is this the difference for "not for professional use" disclaimer?
OMG!!! Credibility of this Innova test???

Interesting comments on SLFT's.
From my research a saliva LFT is not a goer at this moment in time.
Most LFT's are Nasopharyngeal.
The Avacta LFT will be Anterior Nasal (AN) swab.
From my perspective all tests (that meet a certain level of S&S) are necessary against covid 19!.
From the outset this was the case and my opinion has not changed.
Test, test, test
Pigster, the Zoe covid tracker App is very accurate at identifying conditions across the country.
https://covid.joinzoe.com/data
(Scroll to view map of UK).
I have found it 5 days ahead of DHSC data!
So there is a mechanism to identify and go very hard with localised mass testing if necessary to rapidly identify local outbreaks and enforce isolation or local lockdown as appropriate.
Fast accurate daily mass testing at home is the holy grail, the panacea for all ills!
LTH's always knew this and realised the potential and implications!!
Lets hope the UK can lead where other nations can follow!
GLA!!
Test, test, test
The Sun, Mirror and Daily Mail are enough for many uninvested here to recognise an investment opportunity before BJ announcement!
The DHSC comment is interesting as someone has leaked information.
There should be a mole hunt!
We will see shortly if the 50pg/ml sensitivity for coronavirus spike protein in laboratory samples has sufficient bunce to stretch the Ct value to above 25 to move the sensitivity closer to the magically 99.99%!
As I stated previously is there time for a 2 gene test assay with info from Mologic? I think there is.
Test, test, test
One additional major benefit of working to optimise the Avacta LFT is the visibility by the boffins at PD of the affimer technology and hopefully the visibility of the turn around time to tweak an affimer test assay!!
This hopefully opens up the Pandora Box of using affimers for diagnostic testing and many other exciting applications!!!!
Test, test, test
I assume Government will initially use Surescreen and Innova (big stockpile) to get schools back.
Test by Avacta needs to be ready when lockdown eases.
In some regions of the UK cases are above 100 cases per 100k. First lockdown of Bolton was at 98 cases per 100k. The number of cases is still too high to ease lockdown. See Zoe map at
https://covid.joinzoe.com/data
That's why there will be an accelerated drive for vaccination of the over 50's.
Fast Mass testing will be needed to pinpoint the people who have or who are spreading the virus. As I said lockdown has contained it not drastically reduced it in some regions.
A fast test is needed for "Ticket and Test".
This has always been the benefit of the LFT technology.
Just need daily testing of everyone (initially in the high regional case number counties/areas, see Zoe map) for about 1 week IMHO to identify the individuals.
A digital record of the fast Avacta lft test would have been good to identify any people not isolating.
I suppose this should have been developed by Government boffins knowing the potential of LFT technology speed. They have used LFTs for sometime and some of UK Rapid Antigen Consortium members provide apps. Will Dido Harding announce something on these lines? Doubt it ... I digress.
Can anyone tell me what is the difference between a LFT for saliva vs an LFT for AN from the same Company? LFT I assumed is unchanged.
Is the delta the reagents that you mix the sample with before application to test well of the LFT??
If the PD boffins have been working with Avacta for a UK Sovereign solution then our test should be the best with the one gene implementation. As Sir Al stated Mologic and Avacta test assay may yield a better result. I recall for the initial Cytiva LFT evaluation, Avacta knocked up several affimer sosolutions for evaluation in 2-3 weeks. That's what I hope they are doing in parallel for PD to evaluate.
It could be a team effort, just like the UKRTC was, using the best resources the country have available. This should have been the goal from the offset. Government really just sat on their hands waiting for someone to provide the direction required. That someone is hopefully Avacta!!
Test, test, test
BBC R4 Today 6:15 on 19/2/21 Minack Theatre in glorious Cornwall discussing LFT testing!
The Innova LFT has given the LFT technology a bad reputation due to Innova application misuse!
This needs a reboot by Government in order to instil faith in its future use!
Needs to have visibility of manufacturer I think on the Product!!

Jaylarc,
Innova LFT datasheet claims 96% sensitivity!!
https://cdn.website-editor.net/6f54caea7c6f4adfba8399428f3c0b0c/files/uploaded/Innova-SARS-Cov-2-Antigen-test-IFU.pdf
This was never met in the field!!
From the argument I made on Excalibur Nasopharyngeal test I really doubt if Excalibur sensitivity will ever be met in the field!!!!
Will the Excalibur lft undergo thorough scrutiny??
Test, test, test
Jaylarc, I posted similar comment on 96% sensitivity claim by the Excalibur test!!!
96% Sensitivity with Nasopharyngeal tests, even with PCR processing, seems extraordinary.
* The Korean hospital must be exceptionally - improbably (?) - good at taking Nasopharyngeal tests.
* More details, in the form of a peer reviewed paper, are needed.
The same could be said for the innova test. The potential shortfalls were apparent from the above rationale!
Same shortfalls for Excalibur?
Peto explains why Innova was procured
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=L9Bq4sOnfQE&feature=youtu.be
63 minutes in (I think). It was because the Innova test was the only LFT provided.
Peto wanted mass testing!! He wanted a mass test device! Recall
https://www.bmj.com/content/bmj/368/bmj.m1163.full.pdf
Seems like he was party to the decision making process from the video!!!
Test, test, test
Provided that lft are used on a daily basis then it has been argued that accuracy of the Innova lft is perhaps ok.
UK have not used lft's like this. They want to use them as stand alone tests. Therefore, the comparator with the PCR Gold Standard becomes a requirement!
Seems to me the boofins have missed a trick here, big time!!!
The Avacta lft if purchased in quantity allows mass testing with reliable result outcomes.
The Mologic/Avacta lft may be the best lft but how long does this take to produce the affimer test assay??
Get one on the market, which is the best to date, then tweak it and change the version number!!!

See Section 5.
Deeks wants a higher Ct level used. See first link!
His analysis probably indicates Ct=28. Perhaps?
Thats why Sir Al wants a hybrid test with Mologic!!
Would this take weeks to turnaround??
Initial Cytiva lft was weeks.
