RE: Testing will be part of life....11 Nov 2020 06:06
Mjng, after the covid stock declines of the past two days I respect your argument. You alone are responsible for your investment decisions.
So I take onboard what you are saying. However, there are lots if questions about a vaccine.Spme are here:
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/nov/10/6-key-questions-about-the-pfizer-biontech-covid-19-vaccine.
Listen to R2 Jeremy Vine (9/11/20 @ 13:45) on vaccines.Just listened to the Jeremy Vine excerpt.
I agree with, it sounded like Lois Perry, that asking questions should be allowed: just because Pfizer had produced a mass of data doesn't mean that they have asked all the questions that need asking.
I might well take the view that, for me as an individual, the Pfizer vaccine, or any of the other vaccines is a better bet for me, due to my age, than not being vaccinated. For someone much younger the balance of the risks is considerably different and asking a lot of questions is reasonable.
The idea that people should be prevented, by law, from criticism / asking questions is not a route many people would want to go down.
It was a fairly heated debate!
For me, I could make the counter argument that it seems like there are lots of applications for Carl's test, if you really want to be sure, even if there is a fairly effective vaccine.
Checks before flights and cinema, theatre, ballet and opera, sports events etc where: a large number of people will be in enclosed spaces for hours.....
Being indoors with infected people is still potentially dangerous. So how safe would I feel, going to the pub or a restaurant, not knowing whether I was one of the one in ten who would not be well protected by the vaccine. Not knowing this, would I really want to continue with life as it was before Covid-19? Maybe not. Even if I was protected from death, to high probability, it could still be life changing.
I have read that 2 years is the kind of time, after a new vaccine is introduced, that there is close surveillance to look out for long term effects. What makes Pfizer and their associates confident that the few months being considered for emergency use authorisation is adequate for rolling out to the whole population? To a large proportion of the planet?
Test and vaccine, test and therapeutics, mass testing are the 3 solutions from a pandemic. The common denominator is testing.
It will always be about testing until mass resting shows we have defeated this little critter!
The market capitalisation of BRH makes this an interesting covid play. Everyone needs to decide for themselves if this meets with inclusion into their own portfolios!!
Hold for gold!
