We’re looking at historical records now - negative ones. The fastest 10 percent drop in history for the Dow and the S&P - 6 days. Previous record 9 days.

A 1138 point drop in the Dow today.
And worse Dow futures are currently down 200 points.
Ftse futures down 153

Shaping up for a terrible bloodbath tomorrow. I’m sure the ftse will see 6500 on Monday. It could find support at that level.

Good time to buy quality shares ( not dogs) on market weakness. But don’t panic buy. One trade a day as further falls are likely.

The MMs are responsible for liquidity. They have a deal with the financial authorities. - in return for autonomy they guarantee always to fill trades (buy and sell)

Sometimes it’s just not possible to match all trades so they use their brokerages to mop up excess shares.

This is a grey area of course - wide open to abuse - like LIBOR- currency rates etc

But it’d be virtually impossible to prove - and if the dynamics of the market were to fall into question it would destroy confidence in the entire system.

So there’s every reason to keep it like it is.
The only losers after all are investors

And we don’t matter.

BT will fall even if the market rises sharply

The ftse didn’t rise with the Dow but as sure as hell it’ll fall with the Dow

Dow has been in bubble Territory for some time, the Coronavirus was the perfect pretext for a correction.

Looks like the Dow could fall 1000 points today
The Dow has to rise 10,000 points for the ftse to rise several hundred

But the Dow only has to fall 2000 points for the ftse to fall several hundred.

The ftse has been the worst investment in market history over the past 21 years. An engine of wealth destruction for all who dared go near it.

It’s rapidly approaching the stage where the EE acquisition will be all that’s left of BTs market capital. The ftse is lower now than it was in 1999. A 20 year bear market.

Crazy valuations - lower than any bear market. And I can’t see no end to it. Marking shares down to derisory levels is the normal in uk markets. Until the whole rotten dynamics are removed and the human element eliminated it won’t change.

Those responsible for providing liquidity and valuing shares fairly have failed on a monumental scale.

They’ve shown they can’t be trusted. They did it with LIBOR, interest rates, subprime assets and rolled retail investors worse than any scammer. They’re a slur on the nation.

Lot of truth in what you say. Hysteria in markets is an intrinsic quality as old as human nature.

However - I believe BT still have operations in Italy. So I’m sure that fact won’t go unnoticed by market makers when it comes to pricing bad news in.

You probably know this anyway - but BT make 70 percent of their revenue in the UK. So there’s limited overseas exposure.

Anyone know how the eye-tie operations are performing these days.

I’ve just had a bad half minute. Global stocks have recovered into positive territory after incurring hefty losses. Even the footsie is up a few points

But BT has fell further back. One thing you can bank on with BT is that it’ll fall with the market - and it’ll fall when the market rises.

As someone on here remarked - it’s like supporting a football team that loses every single match. It’s only the margin and scale of defeat that differs.

I have been holding for the long term. The problem is with UK shares is that the longer you hold them the more you lose. Admittedly the dividends are reasonable. But every time a dividend is paid out the market makers mark it down by 2-3 times the amount...

Permabear 100 is set to drop below 6950 tomorrow. Taking us back to 1999 level. Shame that our great companies are valued by a cartel of coke-snorting misfits - they deserve better.

BT shareprice is what happens in unregulated markets run by thoroughly dishonest people.

Quite honestly, market makers would never avoid criminal charges if they priced BT at these levels in ANY other global market. BT is valued at less than £15 billion now. EE is worth about £13 billion, so the uks MMs value BT at virtually nothing!

As I said in an earlier post; the shares most traded by retail investors are all the ones that the MMs have smashed most. It’s all out there for everyone to see.

I’ve been around markets for a long time and over the last few years somethings changed. Some shares are being beaten down to the levels you’d expect at the bottom of history’s most savage bear markets. No other nation would allow this.

But in this country the Pigs have always lived off the proles. That’s why ...

Interest rates are 40 percent for current account overdrafts.
Credit card interest rates are outrageous.
Savings rate interest is generally 0.1percent
Shares favored by by retail investors are marked down ever and ever lower to ensure everyone loses big.

Except for the coke- snorting pigs of course

What I am going to do about it?

Over the next day or two I’m going to write to BT and ask them if the current shareprice is a fair valuation of the company.
I’m going to ask them if they know why the price is still marked down when there’s 2 or 3 buys for each sell. And how can be marked 2-3 percent lower in a day when trading volumes are tiny.
I’m going to ask them if they know the MMs who trade Bt shares are using their own brokerages to rat-hole trading imbalances away and profit from this illicit practice.

My advice to anyone even thinking about buying uk shares is quite simply don’t!
As retail investors we have no protection whatsoever. Who needs a bear market when shares are valued like this. The permabear 100 is the most ruinous investment imaginable. You’d do better to set fire to your money.

The market makers who are hammering the value of BT down to mindless levels couldn’t have hoped for a better pretext than Coronavirus. Not that it’ll effect the profits by one penny, but all they need is a pretext- it doesn’t have to be real. This is the next leg down to 135.

I have it on good authority that the market makers colluded to drive Lloyds down to 50p the day before their results; and that is looking like a certainty now.

It’s no coincidence that the shares that are traded the MOST by retail investors are also the ones that are getting smashed by market makers the MOST

The value of BT and these other shares singled out to separate people from their money is crazy. The only way you could price BT at 148 is if it was losing billions of pounds a year.
But hey - who needs the a savage bear mRjet to mark prices down to insane levels when you can pick any number you please with impunity. The irony is those responsible for trading the shares are the same ones shorting it - through different channels

Over 20 years I watched the Dow rise from 10,000 to 30,000. The Dax rise from 5000 to 13,000

And in that same timeframe them ftse rose from 6950 to 7100

That statistic says it all
