I have both of them on my filtered list because they have nothing worth listening to. If you’re ever going to be a successful trader you need to man-up. BT is not your wife or mother whatever you may think. The company is up for debate - and that’s what these boards are about. You’ll never learn anything if you just listen to other buy and hold and hope investors like yourself. It’s a rare opportunity to have someone on the board you could actually learn something from.

You can start by cutting the umbilical cord that links you emotionally to BT.

A person
It’s a company
So stop treating it as your nearest and dearest.

And by the way - I haven’t ruled out trading BT again if I think I can make money on it. Shares are just numbers to ne - not wives and mothers.

Assuming a worst-case scenario of a four-month suspension of all sports coverage (British and foreign), with all sports subscribers pausing their contract and wholesale clients being allowed to follow suit, Sky would lose £700m and BT £228m in revenues.

The report says that beyond July Sky and BT will start saving money if sport remains off screens as upcoming rights payments would be postponed or cancelled.

Sky and BT are due to pay the Premier League the six-month licence fee for the first half of the 2020-21 season, which amounts to about £530m in total, in July. BT’s annual bill to Uefa for the Champions League rights is £394m.

I’m amazed that some of these morons should take their BT investments so personally. Saying anything negative about the company is on par with insulting their wives or mothers. It only goes to show how puerile and infantile they are. Little wonder they’re in losing investments with mindsets like that. Their investment strategy is to -hold and hope - bury head in the sand and ignore any negative news - insult anyone who does.

As for me - I could buy back in and get 140 more shares for the same amount of money right now.

As a former BT shareholder I think I’m entitled to give me opinion on the stock. I try to comment on all aspects and not just focus on the negatives. But it has to be remembered, the most important thing for shareholders is the shareprice. In fact it’s about the only thing that matters - the shareprice.

And herein lies the problem with BT. I held it for around two and a half years, which is a long time for me, and during that time it did nothing but plunge. Then after the election it went into a howling dive.
Easily the worst share in the ftse 100 since Centrica were ejected. Who am I to argue that the market has got it wrong, it won’t make my losses disappear. But selling it and putting the proceeds into another share will.

If you’re a BT shareholder I can understand you’re emotionally invested, and your pride is hurt so you’re going to defend your decision.

But other people who don’t post read these boards too. Perhaps they come here to glean information with a view to investing in BT. It’s important they get a clear picture. Investors tend to validate each other’s positive views on BT even though the shareprice says otherwise.. To hear Fleecy you’d think BT were Apple before the virus came along. Buying into a share - watching it plunge 200-300 percent and then pretending it didn’t happen isn’t the way to trade.

The ftse has risen about 365 points over the past two days but BT has actually fallen. Not only has it missed out on the rally, it’s turned tail and headed south.

Nothing new - it was tanking everyday before the virus gripped the markets. But I’d be really concerned being in a share that doesn’t rise with the market. That should tell you a lot more about a stock than Velo’s tea leaves and Fleecy’s Alternate Reality posts.

Sky and BT will lose almost £1bn in revenue if top-flight sport remains shut down until August, according to a report that recommends players take a pay cut to support their clubs.

And if they fall to @120 or less - even more shares for the same money.

I’ve often traded in and out of a longer term holding when I believed they’d drop. It’s a great way of acquiring more shares for no extra money. But you’ve got to believe in a company to do that.
