Omega Diagnostics (UK, Mkt Cap £131.5m) Has launched its VISITECT COVID-19 Antigen test, a rapid point-of-care lateral flow diagnostic test for the detection of active COVID-19 infection. The test has sensitivity of 98.4% on samples with a cycle threshold (Ct) of < 20 (85% overall sensitivity on samples with Ct values ranging from 9.8 to 43) and specificity of 97.8%. The company also states that it is waiting for confirmation if test has successfully passed the Department of Health and Social Cares performance evaluations. Down -2.0% today.

Dr Cox says... "In a post vaccine world 1 cannot see how lateral flow tests with such low accuracy will stand the test of time. PCR (like the Genedrive announcement today, below) and vaccination is how COVID will be managed going forward. Lateral flow for COVID-19 infection has little use after things open up in line with vaccination in my opinion."
