Roundtable Discussion; The Future of Mineral Sands. Watch the video here.
So be,the Greens are replacing the Catholic Church as the ones you don't go up against in this country .
The more diverse our energy supplies the better. The more competition the better. 163 days after Russia invaded Ukraine, the Taoiseach yesterday mentioned the use of LNG as if it just appeared out of the blue! The more we invest in wind, the more we gamble financially when the wind doesn't blow. That horrible phrase" heat or eat " could become more pronounced this winter.https://www.irishtimes.com/business/energy-and-resources/ireland-needs-lng-infrastructure-to-ensure-energy-security-says-regulator-1.4839610
Swizz,LNG is an absolute must for this country! Every coastal country in Europe has an LNG terminal.

A shift on LNG?

Fianna Fail and Fine Gael will get it from the farmers!
Many thanks for your reply Swizz. It makes sense of JMs prediction of within 90 days.So even with the first offshore windfarm predicted for 2027 ,there still remains a perilous gap in the Green transition when it comes to future energy security.
Swizz, was reading on the LOGP blog that you undertook a FOI request with the DECC about Sel 1/11.Any more info on this?>
Barryroe, looks like Europa are getting the funeral march like us.
"The licence extension application remains under review, Europa noted, and whilst it acknowledged that there can be no guarantee the extension will be granted, DECC has confirmed it is reviewing the application and that the licence will remain live, pending a decision on the application, regardless of how long it takes for DECC to make the decision."

Think he's using this crisis as cover.Start knitting jumpers boys!
Varadkar was being quite responsible with public finances in citing the money message veto with regards to Barryroe when he was Taoiseach .Ryan on the other hand is now being quite wreckless with regards any claim against the taxpayer.
"The rationale behind Article 17.2 is simple enough: while the Government does not, strictly speaking, control the legislative process, it does have overall responsibility for managing the State’s finances. Article 17.2 attempts to ensure prudence in the State’s finances by keeping spending on a coherent agenda and making sure that conflicting legislation and spending does not come about"
Friends Of The Earth said in 2019 that it wasn't enough to change to LED lights but that it was time to change the law.Think thats the language we have to speak.Rockhopper case was taken on as no win no fee such was their lawyers confidence. Ryans ignoring us can only add to our case.
Interesting to hear Ryan saying that we should not be guilt tripping his colleague Catherine Murphy for flying business class to Dubai .Imean, isn't that what the Greens do to the rest of us?
So now he is looking for legally binding targets for each industrial section in the country and have them by the end of the month.I cannot see FFG agreeing to these as it would cause a ground swell of political alienation for both these parties.I would even go so far as to predict the Greens will exit or be pushed from Government over these demands.

Really depends what the big holders want
to do.Biden seemingly left Saudi without a cheap oil deal so demand could remain desperate for some time.LG might want to just sell it on.The tax write off alone of $200 Million works out at 16 cent a share!
The smaller parties in coalition Government are usually the ones to suffer in a following election. However Ryan has maximised the Greens in this Government that it is now more likely that FFG will be the ones to suffer to Sinn Fein and independent TDs.Both FFG must be hearing this on the ground .
Currently there is less than 1.5% electricity being generated by renewables.
How are they getting away without an LNG terminal - irrisponsible wishy washy Governance!
Ryan is defacto aiding the Russians by sitting on the licence paperwork.
I see that the Germans are using barges up the depleted Rhine river from Rotherham to keep their country supplied.Trips of 800km are being run by the Germans while Barryroe is only 50km offshore Ireland.
The thing I don't get is even now as the Germans are holding their breath on Russian gas supplies , sanctimonious Ryan still wants to save the world - to hell with any hardship inflicted on his fellow citizens. If the German economy gets screwed we Irish are also Donald Ducked! Wake up FF/FG ,.time to speedtrack this project .
