Judges cheesed off with An Taisce , the "heritage " organisation . As mentioned before ,our friends An Taisce overstepped their mark yet again going after dairy production arguing that methane from cattle and cheese wrappers would be bad for the environment and looking for the 100 job plant to be stopped.
These guys live in a fully isulated echo chamber.https://www.irishtimes.com/news/crime-and-law/courts/supreme-court/supreme-court-dismisses-appeal-against-140m-glanbia-cheese-plant-in-co-kilkenny-1.4804071
Interesting ps,remember a while back ,an economic guru being of the opinion that Musk sells dreams.
Hi James, wars and economics seem to go hand in hand.If Europe is turning its back on Russian fossil fuel supplies, why should Russia bother to be a good neighbour? What's in it for them and what leverage has Europe now got over Russia?
Maybe Ryan would use a Ukrainian invasion as leverage for investing in more renewables - he's doing that anyway Just listen to one of the current coalition party politicians,Barry Cowan and not a Green, propose selling off the ESB and investing proceeds into renewables.
At what transitional timescale can Ryan turn around and argue that we don't need Barryroe anymore? No licence , I really think we should be proactive in registering these delays with the courts as obstruction .
All of Rockhopper’s costs associated with the arbitration to date have been funded on a non-recourse (“no win – no fee”) basis from a specialist arbitration funder.
The legal eagles must feel that Rockhopper have a very strong case. Thanks for the heads up wraith.
It stands out in the RNS, the two formal requests for a lease undertaking in writing sent to the minister. If the Greens have no trouble using the courts ,well then ......
Yes indeed, the seat heater preset app for a Nissan Leaf doesn't exactly fit into Eamons wooly jumper thinking.
With regards to how much this transition will cost, nobody in Government wants to say out loud .Wonder why?https://www.rte.ie/news/business/2021/0907/1245173-renewable-electricity-costs/#:~:text=The%20Government%20is%20committed%20to,200%20billion%20by%20the%20IMF.
There are currently 45,000 EV units on irish roads including hybrids. The plan is 935,000 by 2030 ,good luck with that.Meanwhile long stretches of suburban roads are being narrowed into cone enclosed cycling lanes ,that even if you are on a bike prohibits you from overtaking the slowest guy in the lane! The once eccentric Greens are now intoxicated with power.https://www.irishtimes.com/business/energy-and-resources/inclusion-of-gas-and-nuclear-in-eu-taxonomy-not-necessary-eamon-ryan-1.4794040
Judicial reviews for planning permissions are clogging up the courts and the Green party are quite happy with this.https://www.rte.ie/news/politics/2022/0203/1277495-planning/
Don't know if any of you are following the case of Glanbia cheese plant down in Kilkenny. Its being going on a while and our old friends ,An Taisce, are challenging the department of environment and climate (ironically Ryan's department) against the building of a cheese plant. The angle that is being used is not the structure or location of the plant ,but get this, the extra methane generated by extra dairy cattle needed to supply milk to the plant !
This comes on top of a Green Party MEP ,Ciaran Cuffe ,singling out the agricultural sector in letters he sent to banks suggesting young farmers not be given loans if they proposed expanding their herds.
Of course our biggest importer of baby milk formula from Ireland is the biggest polluters of them all - China.
So when do we end up in the courts ? How long can Ryan obstruct a legitimate business while Catherine Martin waits for him to blink?
Earth calling Orson...
The SP movements today suggests this thing is still quite fluid.
Ryan now spending €289 million on cycle and walkways this year, what a niche market politican he is. His vision will be proven to be myopic and aloof to the poorer sections of the population.
Wind power flatlining again today ,while 17% of all electricity comes from coal.So of all electric cars charged in this period ,17% equivalent will be powered directly by coal!
The Government target of 900,000 EVs by 2030 fails to recognise that each car needs 7kw for 8 hours to fully charge from scratch. This is 6.3 Gw of electricity spread across a week, with no guarantee from wind power and given that we are currently maxed out at about 6.3 Gw daily .This all from the Green party that once hailed diesel as the future.Dogmatic plonkers.
I see that the Russian navy are planning military exercises 240km off the South West Coast of Ireland next February. Time to unlesh all that boiling water from Dunquinn on them !
Ranger ,the current board are upfront about this .As they previously stated "One of the principal preliminary conclusions from the technical review is that the key uncertainties impeding the future development of Barryroe could be substantially reduced by further appraisal drilling,”
I know we are supposedly looking but can we read into the fact that we have had no CEO for last three months?Just Keeping expenses down?
7% being generated by wind now , certainly not a business model.Consumers are paying twice for both wind and standby gas power stations.
